Okay, so I actually meant to post this on Sunday

Because that was the actual day of the Surprising Miss mamishka party--but well hey, this is what happens when I get distracted by medical news. ;P

As Meems has posted, we had a big surprise party for her on Sunday afternoon. This was mostly the brainchild of poetry_lady, who emailed me out of the blue a few weeks ago and went "Psst! Hey Anna! What should we do for Mimi's birthday?" And I went, "Uh, err, I dunno..." She patiently kept at it, asking me questions to get my brain in gear, and finally the whole surprise party plan came up--along with the plan for the Send Mimi to the Spa for Her Birthday Fund. So that was all good.

This would, granted, be rather cool

Another poster on the OKP following the "Anna the Piper's Impending Surgery" thread I've launched up there has suggested to me that perhaps I will meet a cute doctor while I am having my surgery.

This does not strike me as the optimum situation in which to meet a cute doctor, if nothing else because I would like to hope that I will be UNCONSCIOUS while my thyroid is being removed, and it is very difficult to be charming when you're having your neck cut open.

On the other hand, I also suspect that I would have to be doped to the gills on morphine before the words "Hi, you just took out my thyroid, how'd you like to take out the rest of me?" actually left my mouth.
