Snow in Kenmore, Part 2

So after a brief lull this afternoon, the snow kicked in again. We're back to heavy, large flakes coming down like nobody's business out there. And while Pagliacci's is indeed delivering, I just got called by their dispatcher saying that our delivery will in fact be late because of the snow! I assured them that that is quite all right, and that we have a hefty tip waiting for whoever's coming up the hill. Our pizza bill is $34 and change tonight, but fuck it, they get $40. Because wow, I appreciate not having to go out in this. :)

Also, in honor of the Decembery weather, I've broken my old Winter icon back out again, as well as Snowy Yahoo Anna for my previous post. I think I'll be able to reinstate Christmas Yahoo Anna, too, now that I have icon slots again!

We got up over three inches last night, I think, though as of this morning a lot of that appears to have melted off.

On the other hand, it's also snowing again!

Plus I hear we're in for another windstorm either tonight or Monday. Whee.

Yeah, that's all over the Times page this morning, and it's been seriously coming down all morning too. Took spazzkat over an hour to get to work. I'm working from home, but I still have to go out to radiation treatment this afternoon. Fun!

My cousin's wife called me at 8am to ask me to look up whether her school in Everett was closed. When I told her it wasn't, she almost started crying. Apparently she'd been in traffic on 522 from Kenmore for the last hour. Then P tried going up SR9 to get to Redmond and came back 45 minutes later because he only made it a few miles. The WSDOT site is, as usual, completely unhelpful when it comes to this neck of the woods. Is it the rain? Are there mudslides? I know the river hasn't flooded yet.

Yeah, the rain's causing this. And there are in fact mudslides--our article on the storm, which has been getting updated all morning, has pictures of a mudslide on Westlake. And apparently avalanches closed Highway 2.

They're saying that we may be on track for breaking our record for most rainfall in a day and that we're getting like a quarter of an inch every hour. Joy!

Snow is just wailing down on us up here (ca. 300 km north of you, more or less, and maybe higher above sea level). Expecting a big dump this evening. Would not be at all surprised if snow came to Sea Atoll again this evening.

You're far enough north that yeah, I'm sure that distance makes a difference. Heck, even just a bit north of us makes a difference; a couple of the counties immediately north of ours get a lot more snow than we do.
