Big ol' happy birthday wishes go out to lyonesse!

It occurred to me that I need to contact Dr. Marshall to ask her how soon after the surgery I need to see her again, just to make sure I go on thyroid meds at the proper time. Last time around I still had half a thyroid left, but this time I won't have ANY, and I don't know how long it'd take my system to chug through all the thyroid hormone left over once the thyroid is removed. I've called in to ask about that, though I had to leave voice mail. Whee.

Episode 2 of Battlestar Galactica's second season tonight; looking forward to that, as well as to mamishka's coming over to watch the episodes of The Dead Zone that have been stacking up on our Tivo. (Even though I do not approve of the new theme song for the show for this season.)

It's part of the Eowyn Challenge. Some folks came up with this a while back as a way of inspiring yourself to exercise--they did some ubergeek poring through Tolkien reference material and plotted out the distances between the various major landmarks all throughout The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It all got started with the original Walk to Rivendell, which is what I'm doing now. :) I hope to hit Rivendell by the end of the year!

Most of their data comes from "The Atlas of Middle Earth," a book put out by someone else who did all the research. I've got the book, so if you want me to calculate some other distances that aren't on the list on the Eowyn site, I can.

Said book rules. It's got all sorts of stuff for every geographic feature mentioned by Tolkien ever, including all the Silmarillion stuff.

*snicker!* I have yet to be apprised as to whether you get your pick of elves once you make it Rivendell; if I'd found out I'm eligible for Legolas, I'd be walking a lot faster. ;)
