Slips on ice, that is. There I am riding the bus down 520, and about when we get to 128th or so, I start seeing a lot of snow on the ground. It gets thicker as we get closer to Microsoft, and when I get off the bus there's a considerable dusting all over the sidewalks and the pavement in general. And ::whump::, I slipped on it. Not as bad a slip as the last one, but still annoying. Hit my knee and now my jeans leg is wet.

it was snowing *extremely* vigorously when we were packing up from a 3 day LAN party on friday evening. I slipped twice, but only actually fell once - grabbed my friend's car and managed to avoid the fall the first time, but the second slip was nowhere near anything grab-able. unfortunately for my dignity the actual tumble had two witnesses, one of whom was carrying a 19" CRT monitor. I just looked at him and said "better me than you". He agreed, as his wife made appropriate empathetic noises whilst i dusted myself off.

there were 2" of fresh snow on the roofs (rooves? neither of those looks right)of the cars and it was coming down FAST and HARD (remind me and i'll get the pics my passenger took during the loading process). but by the time i covered half of the 22km (~14mi) north-east home, it was much lighter. and by the time i got the rest of the way home, it was barely pretending to think about snowing. My street will still be a mess in the morning, though. Thank gods i get to stay home and play with my new (to me) Handspring Visor. :)

do y'all tend to see snow frequently during the winter up there? Or is it a sporadic thing like it is down here?

my mother always used to claim that we got snow twice a year - once in November and once in January. Two amendments to this: a friend is labelling his pictures from a week and a half ago "the first snow of 2003"; and Valentine's Day 1990 I got trapped downtown in what qualified as one HELL of a blizzard by local standards. So, my mother's theory developed from 40 years in BC appears to be going out the window.

Meanwhile my foster sister [livejournal.com profile] brightbeak is complaining about a lack of snow in Moncton, New Brunswick. I told her on the phone that she could come and get the stuff any time now. You're bummed about a lack? I'm bummed that there's more than 1/16th of an inch on the roads. When I become Empress of the World, I'm going to hang a big net/tarp over Greater Vancouver so all this white fluffy junk goes on the ski hills where it's actually useful for something.
