Stupid Halloween
Oct. 18th, 2003 12:53 pmIt does not inspire one to be clever and creative with a Halloween costume if the items you want for your costume abound in plenty on the Ave, and yet cannot be used by you because a) your ass is apparently too big for the military and b) your upper torso, possessing actual real-life proportions, is under no circumstances going to fit in any of the shirts and tops you have encountered.
Stupid Halloween. If it weren't for the candy I'd bail entirely...
Then again, I suppose that the candy might be part of the problem. ;P

Date: 2003-10-18 01:43 pm (UTC)HOWEVER: There's a military surplus shop up here where I have found BDU's and stuff that fit _me_. You ought not to be a problem. Let me know if you want to swing by there.

Date: 2003-10-19 01:53 pm (UTC)I fully expect to have to explain to at least one set of loutish teens that a) this is not America, b) Halloween isn't until the 31st and c) the 'treat' is a reward for a good costume, not just for knocking on the door and threatening to throw eggs at my house, next week, as well as ask more than one set of 7-9 year olds if their parents know where they are.
Will stop now, before I rant. Will rant in own journal as soon as a), b) and c) happen.

Date: 2003-10-19 04:07 pm (UTC)Halloween will have our share of loutish teens in our neighborhood -- we are really close to the local University and that's one of the nights of the year when the noisy little buggers get really noisy. This year it might be different as there is a new noise ordinance that permits our police to slap offenders upside the head with large tickets... but we'll see.
Then again, we have also been invited to a party elsewhere on the 31st, so we may miss some of the worst of it anyway. :) That is the good part of Halloween, getting together with friends to munch candy, hang out, possibly play games and watch scary movies!
