Darrell Power is quitting Great Big Sea. Sniffle.

I shall be quite bummed about this. A GBS show will not be the same without him... because if nothing else, we won't get to have him belting out "Excursion Around the Bay" on encores any more. And I will miss his low rumbling bass line in "General Taylor" and "The Chemical Worker's Song". Granted, me and mine at GBS shows are pretty much always standing at Stage Bob... Stage Séan at the most... so we don't generally actually get to see Darrell at the concerts. When the concert was broadcast on Trio, it was actually a surprise to get to see Darrell for once and what he was doing with his instrument...

But well. "Jakey's Gin" is Darrell's, and so is "I'se the B'y", and so even if I'm generally busy ogling Alan and Séan... I'll be missing Darrell much.
