To get this Monday post underway, let's start off with the word in about how the very first storm of the 2006 hurricane season, Alberto, is expected to make hurricane in the next 24 hours. But on a lighter note, and to balance that out, the article about a cat treeing a bear, twice, makes me laugh and laugh and laugh.

Meanwhile, yesterday was indeed laid back as I expected. [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I made it down to the Farmer's Market, which had doubled in size this time from the weekend before--lots more booths as well as activities for the hordes of children running around all over the place, and not one, not two, but three different musical acts going on at once. Including one on a stage. Pretty impressive for Lake Forest Park, all in all.

And we watched the Doctor Who two-parter, "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit". Short form, not my favorite of the Tennant episodes, I fear. There were neat bits all over it, but it didn't quite mesh together for me as a whole.

I have started [livejournal.com profile] rachelcaine's Chill Factor, but I fear my reading on the bus may take a bit of a hit now that I have a shiny new iPod to play with. So I don't know how fast I'll make it through the book. And we'll have to see what happens once my commute shifts on Wednesday with the new job!

I really must remember to adjust the Smart Playlists on my iPod so that the dummy files used by the iTrip, the frob I can attach to it to let it play over my car radio, do not come up when I try to go through my Not Recently Played playlist. 'Cause y'know what I don't really want to listen to? 100+ 5-second files that go "beep".

However, after hitting the Next button a lot to get to some actual music, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts came up, and that's all to the good, 'cause now I'm all 'oh yeah, TOFOG1 goodness!' ^_^ Some of the songs that originally sold me on the whole idea that Russell Crowe can, in fact, sing.

And now I get some Billy Dean Cochran guitar solo goodness, too!
