Yep, it's Monday, rah

To get this Monday post underway, let's start off with the word in about how the very first storm of the 2006 hurricane season, Alberto, is expected to make hurricane in the next 24 hours. But on a lighter note, and to balance that out, the article about a cat treeing a bear, twice, makes me laugh and laugh and laugh.

Meanwhile, yesterday was indeed laid back as I expected. solarbird and I made it down to the Farmer's Market, which had doubled in size this time from the weekend before--lots more booths as well as activities for the hordes of children running around all over the place, and not one, not two, but three different musical acts going on at once. Including one on a stage. Pretty impressive for Lake Forest Park, all in all.

And we watched the Doctor Who two-parter, "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit". Short form, not my favorite of the Tennant episodes, I fear. There were neat bits all over it, but it didn't quite mesh together for me as a whole.

I have started rachelcaine's Chill Factor, but I fear my reading on the bus may take a bit of a hit now that I have a shiny new iPod to play with. So I don't know how fast I'll make it through the book. And we'll have to see what happens once my commute shifts on Wednesday with the new job!

Oh, I waffle back and forth hardcore, depending on whose books and whose music is involved. But right now I'm still all "oooooooh shiny" with the new iPod--just because I'm all delighted that I have one again that'll actually let me listen to more than a half hour or so of music before the batteries die! I haven't listened to so much of my music collection in too damned long. :)

I'll get back around to the books soon enough, though. Uber-hot David the Djinn is commanding my attention. ;)

And I knocked off another 100 pages or so of the book on the way into work this morning, just because David was CALLING.

Then of course he winds up not being in most of the first hundred pages. Sniff. Rachel Caine is such an evil temptress! ;)

And I just snuck a peek at the description of Windfall up on her site, too. AIE! I think that just shot up the queue for what I need to read next as soon as I'm done with Chill Factor. ;) And oh my, the yumminess of the cover of Book Five, too! Looking forward to that coming out!

40-some-odd pages in, he certainly is. And duly noted as such by side characters, especially one who describes him as "the kind of hottie who needs to keep a fire extinguisher around, just to hose down any passing women who spontaneously combust". ;)
