Last night's Winter Storm Watch has graduated to Winter Storm Warning.

If you're in the convergence zone like the Murk is, people, be prepared for up to six inches of snow. But they are saying tonight, rather than today, so hopefully it'll hold off until after everybody's done commuting home this evening.

Be prepared to deal. And by deal I mean 'looking out for all the other drivers around you who will be flipping out about the snow'. ;)

ETA 10:49am: Ah, looks like the Storm Warning has been called off. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] katatomic for the heads up!

I'll come out there and drive. Chicagoans laugh at snowy roads, we really do.

Plus we have all this fancy lawn furniture decorating our curbs on heavy snow days, thanks to an ancient and inviolable Chicago custom whereby the residents, after shoveling out their cars and moving them, will mark their shoveled-out parking space with two or more lawn chairs. NOBODY ELSE TOUCHES THESE CHAIRS. EVER.

Technically, legally, you cannot save a parking space on a public street. In actual practice, however, even Mayor Daley has cautioned people not to remove someone else's chairs and park in their space, because the City cannot be held responsible for what might happen to their car should they do so.

I'll bet Chicago snow is WAAAAAY different than Seattle snow! And the danger here isn't so much the snow as it is the stupid insane drivers, haha. I've never driven in Seattle, but I noticed that even in Montana the snow in remarkably easier to drive in than it is in Seattle. :-)

I *wondered* why there was lawn chairs in the snowbanks when I was there in March '94! I figured it was something like "watchin' out for the cleaned up spot, and shooting the &^%$#@! that tries to take the spot" but I see it is even more refined :) woo! :)

Strangely, I was just reading the online weather and they've now cancelled the Storm Warning in favor of "it's going to be a bit slushy." Nothing like precision in forecasting.... (*sigh*)

Just noticed one of LJ's Featured Communities this week is [livejournal.com profile] seattle, it made me think of The Murk. PS Love your holiday userpic!
