Update for Snowpocalypse 2008

Last night's Winter Storm Watch has graduated to Winter Storm Warning.
If you're in the convergence zone like the Murk is, people, be prepared for up to six inches of snow. But they are saying tonight, rather than today, so hopefully it'll hold off until after everybody's done commuting home this evening.
Be prepared to deal. And by deal I mean 'looking out for all the other drivers around you who will be flipping out about the snow'. ;)
ETA 10:49am: Ah, looks like the Storm Warning has been called off. Thanks to
katatomic for the heads up!

Date: 2008-12-12 04:01 pm (UTC)Plus we have all this fancy lawn furniture decorating our curbs on heavy snow days, thanks to an ancient and inviolable Chicago custom whereby the residents, after shoveling out their cars and moving them, will mark their shoveled-out parking space with two or more lawn chairs. NOBODY ELSE TOUCHES THESE CHAIRS. EVER.
Technically, legally, you cannot save a parking space on a public street. In actual practice, however, even Mayor Daley has cautioned people not to remove someone else's chairs and park in their space, because the City cannot be held responsible for what might happen to their car should they do so.
