It is snowing. In the Seattle area. At the end of March, almost April. This is just nuts.

Don't get me wrong. Normally I love me some snow. Right now though my tolerance for wet, cold weather is worn down right now, thanks to the MDF. I'm also a tad concerned for what this means about [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat's and [livejournal.com profile] solarbird's chances of making it home in a safe and timely fashion from Sakuracon, downtown. We'll have to see how the weather continues through the rest of this afternoon and evening.

We're having a good solid snow here in Kenmore, and have for the last little while. The flakes were big and fat for the longest time, though now they're getting smaller--still a very steady snowfall, nonetheless. It's accumulating in the yard and on the deck and roof.

When I worked at the phone company I kept hearing stories about the huge April 1 "blizzard" that happened (something like 15 years ago now). And this icon is from the 2002, when it snowed on the equinox. (http://geocities.com/emmacrew/spring/) So... not unheard of, though definitely WTF-inducing.

it snowed here in Vancouver for the better part of an hour 'til about 1pm. then it switched to rain and washed it all away (thank goodness)

just measured the snow here on my car roof at Engineering: 85 cm. And that's all since I came in at 6:30ish this morning.

mind you, we are quite a bit higher up, here at the colliery (roughly same height as Burnaby Mountain, I'd guess?), and a long way inland from the Salish Sea, so we get Inner Island weather which is always a bit colder and snowier.

but still, yuck.

I won't be staying here until dusk, that's for damnsure. :/

I remember getting about 6-8 inches of snow a few years ago around this time of year (actually about a week earlier than now, around March 20th), so it's not terribly unusual.

It makes me happy. :-) Even though I'd prefer clear weather for visiting guests.

It finally made it up here, and now I'm getting pissed.

We've had our share of snow here in Bergen, too. With temperatures just hovering around freezing, the main result is that we all have to be very careful about where we put our feet when going outside.

Still, I thought there were some nice March photos from Bergen and the surrounding areas here:

And to think that everytime the news brings up Global Warming, my grandfather, who I'm helping to take care of at the moment, doesn't believe that it's real...that the politicians and "anyone who thinks they can make a damned dollar by coming up with this bull." He also thinks that you can see the history of all this by looking in the "archived farmer's almanacs".

Which, in reality, none of what he thinks explains the weird weather we've been having.
