Attn: Torchwood fans

So risu and I were trying to get caught up on the BBC America broadcasts of Torchwood that had been queueing up on our Tivo--and we'd made it up through "Combat". Or so we'd thought. Apparently BBC America actually aired the Doctor in the time slot where Tivo was expecting Torchwood!

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not like I mind looking at David Tennant... but he is not immediately useful to me finishing off Torchwood's first season! We do have the last two episodes confirmed, though, so my question for y'all is this:

How critical is "Combat" to the end of the season? Can we safely skip it and watch the last two, or should we try to get the episode by other means?

Ooh so I was babysitting my nephew at my brother and sis-in-law's condo some time ago and I saw Torchwood for the first time and totally loved it (it was the only time I ever saw it). Do you have any idea of where I can watch it without cable? Have you come across like any sites that show it (even for a fee)?

I don't know about online sites, but season 1 is available on DVD if you want to rent or purchase it. :)

*goes and verifies that* No whoops, wait, I was mistaken. It will be available on DVD, according to Amazon, on January 22! So, not out now, but out soon.

Eh. It's not critical. It's an Owen-centric episode, dealing with him after Out of Time. There's only one "big" thing that I remember and it's more a speculation kind of thing than confirmed fact, so.

Eh. "Combat" is not a good episode. The only reason it might possibly be necessary is to show how Owen's sliding even farther downhill after "Out of Time", but that's pretty self-explanatory. So, probably not necessary to seek it out.

Okay! I actually almost liked Owen in "Out of Time"--we watched that one just last night, and it was the first time in the entire series where I thought he actually had a little bit of depth. I'm at least a bit glad that they're following up on that, but also relieved to know there's no real reason to seek it out before we watch the last two. Thanks!
