And now, some stuff I'm thankful for

Okay, I might have me some breast cancer, but all things considered, I'd much rather have that than the BRAIN EATING AMOEBA. I mean, damn. I've SEEN those episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Here are some other things I am grateful for, in the meantime:

• jessicac came over last night, armed with a piece of apple pie and an entire peach pie, and some Haagen-Dazs cinnamon dulce de leche ice cream. That ice cream is, I'm here to tell you, ecstasy in a spoon. Also, Jessica's little girl is unbelievably cute with solarbird's red house slippers jammed onto her hands, and crawl-clomping all over our kitchen floor, babbling nonstop in fluent Baby all the while. I'm just sayin'.
  
  
• For round two of Snacks and Cute Babies Therapy, kathrynt came over today with her cute child and a box full of cupcakes. Lillian is not quite as fluent in Baby as Moira, but she's got that speed-crawl down now. She also clued in very quickly to the Find Anna's Face Behind Her Hand Game, and she was absolutely fascinated by each and every object on our coffee table. Most of which were not baby-safe in the slightest. Except maybe the wooden coaster. We let her have that.
  
  
• Tomorrow there will be Russell Crowe and Christian Bale double-barrel-shotgun goodness in 3:10 to Yuma. This movie could suck like a great big sucking thing (not that I think it will, 'cause Russell's generally pretty good about not being in movies that suck), and I'd still enjoy watching these two boys for two hours.
  
  
• Tomorrow there will also be a Murkworks Kitten-Finding Expedition. Given the current circumstances, spazzkat has bumped up the priority of getting some kittens into this household. We're in definite pet shortage around here, and we've got a multi-kitten situation at hand, definitely. If we're lucky, we should have cute kitten pictures to share with the world in the next 24-48 hours.
  
  
• Sunday, hopefully, there will be a meeting of some cross-section of our household and technoshaman's to make music. There are plans to play around with the recently released songbook of Heather Alexander songs and to indulge in the snacks kindly provided by the aforementioned Jessica and Kathryn.
  

And I made me a new version of my "Something Beautiful" icon tonight, partly because Alan Doyle is always good for the easing of my heart, and partly because "Something Beautiful" is a song that's really called for right now.

The Kitten Acquisition Mission today was not, unfortunately, a success! The shelter had all girl kittens and spazzkat is anxious to acquire boy kittens. But we have secured a promise to be informed as soon as there are boy kittens available. And there will be pictures. Oh my yes.

Somehow, apart from my very first cat, I've always ended up with males. It's never been planned that way, I always just end up taking on some stray along the way, and I guess males are more likely to roam and get lost, hit by cars, etc, so I'm more likely to end up with them. But I've never had a cat that wasn't entirely sweet :-)

Hee! Yay for sweet kitties!

We did have quite a nice time petting the kittens that were there, anyway, even if we really wanted to take home some boy kitties. They had this set of five little girls that were absolutely adorable, barely bigger than your hand, and not quite old enough yet to understand getting their heads skitched until we demonstrated it to them. <3

I have just now returned from the Movie Watching, followed by the Kitten Acquisition Expedition. The movie was cool. The kitten acquisition, sadly, was not a success! The shelter had several kittens, but they were all girls, and spazzkat's anxious to get a couple of male kittens so they'll grow up well together.

Once we get the right kittens, though, there will be pictures. Oh my yes.

Meanwhile, I have not seen the original Yuma, but mamishka and darthhellokitty and king_chiron and I are all now interested in seeing it. We liked this one quite a bit. :)

Honey honey, I hope today is doing good things for you. 3:10 to Yuma does NOT suck. I loved it like a big ol' lovey thing, personally. In fact, I want to go see it again.

There was, sadly, failure to acquire kittens. Not for lack of trying, but for lack of boy kittens in the shelter. This did not however stop us from spending quite a bit of time petting the tiny heads of girl kittens. And 3:10 to Yuma indeed failed to suck.

"Why didn't you do something?!" "They had a lot of weapons. And they was shootin' BULLETS." Muah.

Favorite fandom... oh wow, there are a few, but the current favorite is Doctor Who, Tenth Doctor variety.

If I'd known you were on a kitten expedition, I would have passed our Cat Fair info to you. The Seattle Animal Shelter regularly has cat fairs for the display and adoption of the cats and kittens in foster care. There was plenty to choose from, boys and girls. Our next one isn't until Oct 13th.

If you don't have any luck at other sources, check petfinder.com for kitten options.

Also, if you want to talk to another breast cancer battler, my friend Jennifer recently went through the whole deal. I'd be happy to hook you two up.

Otherwise, you seem to have a good rally of folks around you.

We're going to be working with homewardpet.org since a friend of ours is on the staff there. spazzkat's hoping she can hook us up with the prime kitten goodness. ;) He's being the primary driver of the kitten effort, but if Homeward Pet doesn't come through for us, I'll keep this other information on hand, too!
