It got unusually cold in Kenmore overnight--and rather damp, too. I looked out the bedroom window and saw a sheen of wet on the street and thought "Surely that isn't ice on the road..." Well, whatever it was, it was on the front steps too. As [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat and I were on our way out the door to go catch the bus, he was ahead of me and warned me that the steps were slick--about two seconds before my feet flew out from under me, and I landed hard on the bottom half of the stairs.

Most of my right leg took the impact, both high and low, and I should have an interesting array of bruises by tomorrow. There's also a scraped bit on the outer side of my right ankle. I don't think I hit my head, but my neck really didn't like that jolt to my system. In a word, ow.

I staggered back inside, fell over on the couch long enough to send in email to warn my lead and her lead that I was going to go back to bed for a while to sleep off the ow and would probably be working from home. Which I am now doing. But I will also be going to my chiropractor earlier than normal today, because ow ow ow ow ow.

*hugs* ow. Not fun. Fortunately, the steps at the Treehouse, which is a bit further south and also a bit closer to Mean Sea Level, were only mildly slick, and I was more or less ready for them even in my haste to get out the door and catch the bus. But, ow... *hugs*

Yikes. I'm glad you're mostly OK. I'm going to the chiropractor this afternoon to deal with my own injuries from this week, so maybe I'll see you there.

Ouch! Glad you are (mostly) okay tho.

We were in the 90's as recently as last weekend, and the area just below us hit the 100's. The weather juxtapositions are so weird.

No, no, no...you're supposed to throw yourself at the ground and miss. *sigh*

Feel better!

You know, except for the whole falling down and getting hurt first bit, it does sound like a pretty nice evening.

Be careful slipping! You don't want to end up with a butt like mine!

I hope you don't bruise too badly (or maybe do so then you can show people awesome bruises, haha, so bruises with no pain).

Let's not have another year of medical problems for you. That would be bad. Definitely take a nice long soak, and if you have anything on hand like a bubble bath sort of thing that takes away aches and pains, add that to your bath. I know that Wal-Mart sells this sort of stuff (since I have to deal with it since it's in my department) and I remember you talking about Lush in an earlier post. Don't know what they'd have, but worth looking into.

You know those spiky doormats? The plastic ones? Get some of those and cover the steps with them for this season of iciness. You will slip less. Another option, if the steps ever get dry enough for it to stick, is griptape of the sort skateboarders use so their feet don't slip off their boards, etc.

Yeah, the spiky plastic stuff was a suggestion for an 'in the meantime' sense.
