In "couldn't happen to a cooler set of novels" news, [livejournal.com profile] naominovik has just announced that Peter Jackson has optioned the Temeraire novels. WOW. I mean, WOW. I will look forward to seeing Laurence and Temeraire come to life with great, great anticipation. :D

Man, now I'm going to spend the rest of the day trying to figure out who they might get to play Laurence, or if they'd find some previously unknown but swoonable British actor. And who would be the voice of Temeraire?

Daniel Craig is the new James Bond.

Clive Owen was the lead in "King Arthur", was the one who wasn't Jude Law in "Closer", and was the mastermind in "Inside Man". And oh, huh, in fact, he's also older than Daniel Craig.

Yeah, Laurence is in his thirties, I expect, and all three of those guys are either in their forties or close to it. Still, I think any of them would rock. However, I would settle for James Purefoy doing Temeraire's *voice*, because OMG that man has a beautiful, beautiful voice. And it's not as recognizeable as JEJ or any of the other Voices that get used.

James Purefoy is getting the most exposure as Marc Antony in HBO's Rome -- but he's really, really good. And jawdroppingly pretty.

In fact, he's so good that I sat through this really awful B fantasy movie called 'Dragon Sword' because he was the lead. And he made it entirely bearable.

He's worth an IMDB just to see if there's any of his stuff you may've seen already. :)
