Because it occurred to me tonight that I am all by my lonesome in the living room with a big ol' TV and a DVD player and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

"Listen, Herr Mac, I don't know what kind of people you're used to dealing with, but nobody tells me what to do in my place!"

*sigh!* I love this movie so much.

And also, some quick numbers because I miscalculated yesterday's!

Missed Monday mileage: 0.5
Tuesday evening miles: 2.5
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1268.2
Miles out of Rivendell: 810.2
Miles out of Lothlórien: 348.2
Miles to Rauros Falls: 40.8

Now if we can just keep George Lucas and Steven Spielberg from "destroying" it! LOL (Yep...I still remember that wonderful South Park episode).

I used to know every single line in that movie! It's been a while, but I'll bet you anything if I had the movie playing again, I could ease right back into it like it was nothing. I saw Raiders back in the days before the VCR. When the only way you could replay the movie was to keep going to see it (25 times in just over a year) and to *shhhhhhhhh* slip a tape recorder in the theater and tape it. Then play it at home to your heart's content. (Which is probably why I became a fan of sound effects too).

Anyway :-) you bring back very happy memories. It's still my second favorite movie of all time (Master and Commander is #1).

So...are you dreading or hoping for an Indy 4???

Hey, M&C being #2 in your heart isn't bad at all?

Am reading and commenting in your Indy IV thread right now!

Oh I love Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. I was a tad disappointed with Return of the King because I think it should have been (get ready) LONGER! LOL Everyone had built up my expectations with this scene and that scene...and none of them made the theatrical release. *sigh* I would have sat 4 or 5 hours to get what I wanted but...oh well....Anyway, I was much happier after I saw the extended edition of it -- THAT was the movie I wanted to pay $7.50 to see *bg*

I would love to see all the extended versions play here. And I noticed that PJ is now going the George Lucas route and releasing new editions of all three LOTR movies, only they aren't really new editions, just new packaging. You can get both the theatrical and the extended of each movie...buying them as a set of 2 or a complete package of 6.

Really I wish he'd tackle putting it all into some chronological order like I've heard rumors of, but maybe in a few years.

It's been forever since I've seen the extended Fellowship, but I think I'd have to agree with Dara in that the extended Two Towers and most definitely Return of the King gave me a whole lot more.

Well, I have all the versions except the theatrical release of ROTK, so there's no need in me getting them again. I'm sure there are some that don't own them, so as you said "more power to 'em."

I'm just waiting now for the September release of the original, untouched, theatrical, not-quite-special-except-for-being-before-their-time-at-the-time versions of Star Wars (before it became A New Hope) and The Empire Strikes Back!

Good grief -- you have to flip them???

I was very torn about buying them...well, buying Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back (I was never, EVER a fan of Jedi), but the original "pre-mucked-with versions" that I owned had been on video...and all of them were kidnapped during a burglary of my old house, never to be seen again. Well, they were seen again...sort of. The bag with the videos was found dumped...and it had rained *sigh* So I guess this will be my chance to own them again. You know what? I just realized I never bought the "special edition" DVDs from a year or two back. How did that happen? LOL

I think it's a good reason to buy them. Those are the ones I fell in love with and will always love.

My sister can't wait for my niece and nephew to see the originals (I've ordered it for their family). My nephew has only seen eps 1 to 3, and the "special editions" of eps 4 to 6, so he was perplexed when my sister told him things that no longer existed (like Hayden Thingy replacing that old guy in Jedi at the end).

I'm just glad he finally understands why his "Auntie Tina" has such an aversion to episodes 1, 2 and 3! LOL He used to be very puzzled at that.

Just in case you didn't know, the Bay theater in Ballard is showing all three Raiders movies at midnight shows starting with this weekend and for the next two after. "I am the monarch of the sea."

I saw Raiders for the twenty-sixth time theatrically two years ago when we had a local film festival of "modern classic" movies. It was wonderful seeing it on the big screen again.

That means that Raiders is in second running for movie I've seen the most AT the movies! Master and Commander comes first at 27!!!!

Absolutely....Others I may have seen at the movies a dozen times or so (like The Empire Strikes Back, the original Star Wars, The Right Stuff, Batman, Titanic, Gladiator...but Raiders and Master and Commander came to mean so much to me. Now I need to take time and relax some evening and watch them both again. It's been way too long!
