Not quite done with Indy yet

Because it occurred to me tonight that I am all by my lonesome in the living room with a big ol' TV and a DVD player and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"Listen, Herr Mac, I don't know what kind of people you're used to dealing with, but nobody tells me what to do in my place!"
*sigh!* I love this movie so much.
And also, some quick numbers because I miscalculated yesterday's!
Missed Monday mileage: 0.5
Tuesday evening miles: 2.5
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1268.2
Miles out of Rivendell: 810.2
Miles out of Lothlórien: 348.2
Miles to Rauros Falls: 40.8

Date: 2006-08-02 02:04 pm (UTC)I used to know every single line in that movie! It's been a while, but I'll bet you anything if I had the movie playing again, I could ease right back into it like it was nothing. I saw Raiders back in the days before the VCR. When the only way you could replay the movie was to keep going to see it (25 times in just over a year) and to *shhhhhhhhh* slip a tape recorder in the theater and tape it. Then play it at home to your heart's content. (Which is probably why I became a fan of sound effects too).
Anyway :-) you bring back very happy memories. It's still my second favorite movie of all time (Master and Commander is #1).
So...are you dreading or hoping for an Indy 4???

Date: 2006-08-06 07:10 pm (UTC)Me, I think I prefer the extended versions of all three, and I'd definitely pay money to see all of them on the big screen at some point. There are some local theaters who'd periodically run them, too, I recall!

It's been forever since I've seen the extended Fellowship, but I think I'd have to agree with Dara in that the extended Two Towers and most definitely Return of the King gave me a whole lot more.

Date: 2006-08-08 11:20 pm (UTC)I'm just waiting now for the September release of the original, untouched, theatrical, not-quite-special-except-for-being-before-their-time-at-the-time versions of Star Wars (before it became A New Hope) and The Empire Strikes Back!

Date: 2006-08-10 01:39 am (UTC)We've got the pre-mucked-with versions of the Holy Star Wars Trilogy here at my house, but we have 'em on laserdisc. That's three discs per movie, so we have to change disks twice, AND each disc has to flip in the middle. So it kinda breaks the flow, you know?

Date: 2006-08-12 04:09 am (UTC)I was very torn about buying them...well, buying Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back (I was never, EVER a fan of Jedi), but the original "pre-mucked-with versions" that I owned had been on video...and all of them were kidnapped during a burglary of my old house, never to be seen again. Well, they were seen again...sort of. The bag with the videos was found dumped...and it had rained *sigh* So I guess this will be my chance to own them again. You know what? I just realized I never bought the "special edition" DVDs from a year or two back. How did that happen? LOL

Date: 2006-08-12 04:50 pm (UTC)Huh, yeah, in your case? Totally reasonable to buy the new DVDs. And heh, we never bought the Special Edition DVDs either. ;)

Date: 2006-08-12 08:05 pm (UTC)My sister can't wait for my niece and nephew to see the originals (I've ordered it for their family). My nephew has only seen eps 1 to 3, and the "special editions" of eps 4 to 6, so he was perplexed when my sister told him things that no longer existed (like Hayden Thingy replacing that old guy in Jedi at the end).
I'm just glad he finally understands why his "Auntie Tina" has such an aversion to episodes 1, 2 and 3! LOL He used to be very puzzled at that.
