Heat's cooling down, but I'm still zonked

Today, mercifully, the heat has slacked off considerably here in the Pacific Northwest. I actually got some sleep last night thanks to the bedroom being tolerable, though I am still severely behind on my sleep and wrestling with the sleepies even as I type. It's probably a good thing I don't have much actual work to do today.

I'm seeing quite a few posts coming over my Friends list about writercon, which is amusing me quite a bit--it sounds like it was quite a lot of fun, and it makes me vaguely interested in checking it out next year even if I am not quite sure what I would do at a convention that seems to be all about fanfic. Though I think I could probably make a decent argument for my 13+ years of MUSH roleplay logs fitting into the fanfic category. ;)

And I'm still sleepily re-reading a bunch of my old logs. I didn't manage to write anything last night, as sleepy as I was, but I did at least write the night before. We'll see how I do tonight and tomorrow, assuming I get a decent night's sleep!

Yes, today's weather for me is pure joy! I actually woke up this morning and wasn't roasting; I've had difficulty sleeping also (although going to bed with an ice pack under my back has helped get me to sleep, if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night I'm doomed).

Oh my yes, commuting in this morning was bliss. :) And I actually got kind of cold last night, but then, I sleep right under a ceiling fan. Which we don't normally have on, but this past weekend, it was kind of required.

Oooh you have a ceiling fan! I don't have any fans and they're pretty much sold out everywhere.

We have a few--they came with the house. And we have a few small portable fans as well that we've had to place in strategic locales around the house--especially the server room, which got pretty toasty over the weekend, solarbird realized. So she stuck a fan pointing in there as well to keep our servers from going on the fritz and taking murkworks.net out with 'em.

Oh goodness, I'll bet that room would fry! I have a good advantage of having windows that go directly across the apartment (two bedrooms facing the west and then the three large livingroom windows facing the west) so I get a cross draft . . . but there hasn't been any wind lately! Go figure, eh?

Yeah, it's a literal albeit extremely large and oddly shaped closet, with no windows--so it needs all the ventilation help it can get.

solarbird is very good at creating cross-breezes by strategic opening of windows, but yeah, there's only so much one can do with that when there isn't any actual wind. kathrynt was lamenting about that this weekend, too.
