This morning I got up to discover that I had totally forgotten to take yesterday's dosage of Synthroid--a BRILLIANT thing to do on a day when I'd intended to go into the Polyclinic and have them check my levels. Fortunately, the Polyclinic tells me that this does not in fact screw things up for my lab work and I won't have to come back in for them to draw another portion of blood. I am not entirely sure why missing my dose like that won't throw off my levels enough to worry about, but I will ask my endoc about that next week.

I also posted an incorrect number for yesterday's mileage, though that isn't nearly as big an oops. The 1.8 was "Times building to Polyclinic to bus stop", and didn't account for the 1.5 on the way into work. Doh!

But at least tonight there will be PIRATES (YARR!) and tasty food consumed at Red Robin, and this weekend will hopefully be full of writing the rest of Chapter 4 of Queen of Souls and perhaps some editing of Chapter 10 of Lament. And there will be another round of Hunt the Cat over at the Burning Hand, just so's we can try to verify that Ash is in fact still in the house. And hopefully some nice weather as well for frolicking in the sunshine!

Meanwhile, as we continue with July as the Month of Babies, I report with pleasure that Alan The Doyle and his Fairest One of All are now the proud parents of little Henry Doyle, and meanwhile, Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle are the proud parents of their second youngun, Tennyson Spencer Crowe. Much, much closer to home, [livejournal.com profile] chipmunck's firstborn is on the way as well, so warmest wishes go out to her and her spouse for the trouble-free arrival of their little one!

It takes weeks for your thyroid hormone levels to reach equilibrium on a new dosage. Missing one day isn't going to make a dent in your current level. It certainly won't change the results of a blood test. Don't worry about it. :)

T4 takes between a week and two weeks to work its way out of your system. Missing one dose won't mess with your levels atall; missing even two or three won't affect you too badly as long as you get back on it...

Gotta make time to go see Pirates. AARRRR!!!!

Maybe your medicine works long-term in a way. Kind of like my migraine medication, I take it every day, but if I miss one dose, I don't all of a sudden get a migraine. Also, if I'm off it for awhile (like I run out and forget to refill the prescription) it takes weeks before it has completely worn off, and once I start back up on it again, it's a few weeks before it takes its full effect (this isn't to say I should skip doses, it is not good to do that, but it's not gonna affect me terribly if I do accidentally miss . . . like I totally forgot this morning). So maybe it's kind of like that.

YAAAAY for Pirates! 3 1/2 hours until I get to see it! I'm even wearing a skull and crossbones kerchief tied around my neck today, hee hee. Hmm, I suspect I'll be eating at (what we like to call) the Crimson Bird afterward also (though probably a different one, in Tukwila). I've heard some really good reviews of the movie.

Yeah, I get bitchy and short tempered if I miss three pills in a row, but that's only happened when I've been stupid about getting my prescription refilled before a long holiday weekend. *eyerolls* It was interesting, though, standing back inside my own head watching myself lose my composure over something utterly trivial that ordinarily wouldn't faze me. It was my clue that my hormones were out of whack.

So get 15 of them instead of 30. You don't *have* to get the full amount on the prescription. That way you're covered either direction.
