May. 2nd, 2006 09:00 pmIn case you haven't heard yet, this is why LJ has been acting up tonight:
"Since approximately 4:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time, Six Apart has been the victim of a sophisticated distributed denial of service attack. This has affected all of Six Apart's sites, causing intermittent and limited availability for TypePad, LiveJournal, sixapart.com, movabletype.org and movabletype.com. Our network operations staff is working around the clock with our Internet access providers to resolve the issue. We appreciate your patience and support, and will provide updates as we have them."
Guh. I was wondering if something like this was going on.

Date: 2006-05-03 04:13 am (UTC)Since I couldn't get to the status site from work either, I was really rather wondering what was happening and if it was something like this. Since the status site is as far as I know a separate server, I figured that anything that would be affecting it as well as LJ's main servers was probably something nasty. Guh.
Here's hoping the network crew can repel the broadsides. Bah. Where's a 36-gun frigate when you need her?

Date: 2006-05-03 09:29 pm (UTC)Things seem to be more stable today, so hopefully the network staff at Six Apart and LJ have gotten the problem under control. I feel for 'em, they must have put in a lot of extra hours last night!
