Yarr, because the piratical tendencies o' the B'ys o' Great Big Sea be gettin' discussed as we speak over on greatbigsea, I bring ye now these pirate-flavored ditties:

"Yarmouth Town", for that be a fine, fine port for any rovin' pirate.

"Lukey", 'cause green be a pretty color for any pirate boat.

"French Perfume", for it actually be about a pirate even if they call 'im a smuggler. Also, his boat explodes. Yarr, explosions be fun!

"I'm a Rover", 'cause what pirate ain't?

"The Night Pat Murphy Died", for if yer mate goes to Davey Jones' locker, yarr, be singin' about it.

"Jolly Rovin' Tar", because all pirates are!

"Barque in the Harbor", if ye be wantin' some lovin' from Spanish lasses when ye sail into Spanish waters.

"Captain Kidd", even though it not be all available for the hearin', but even a bit of it sounds piratical!

And, o' course, no proper pirate should ever be without this in her grog locker: "Old Black Rum"!

Be givin' up more ditties, mateys, to sing when we set sail!

T'aint GBS, but Barrett's Privateers by Stan Rogers. I sang it this morning during a meeting.

Excellent! And I have heard rumors that GBS has flat refused to ever do "Barrett's Privateers" because they kept getting asked to do it way too much when they were doing their apprenticeship in the pubs of Atlantic Canada. However, it is a most excellent song, and so's the Star Wars filk version, too!
