Eowyn icon adjustments

Thank you to everyone who gave me helpful tips on playing with my Eowyn icon! I've tried to utilize some of them to make a 2.0 version of it, mostly focusing on trying to make the text more legible. This has involved rearranging the direction of the lighting effect, toning down the buttonizing (I liked the very subtle border effect, so I did keep a bit of the buttonizing), and realizing that if I just wrote out "your laughter is my" as solid text rather than outlined text, it got a lot more readable in the Vivaldi font. Especially if the angle of light isn't falling across the white lettering. Also, I filled in "LIGHT" with a gold metallic effect.

I definitely like version 2 better, with 'your laughter is my' above and only 'light' below. For one, it doesn't cover her chin. Her hair also has a better halo effect in #2, and I like the gold effect inside the 'light' text. Very nice. :)

Agreed. In version 1 it seemed like her face was in shadow a bit.

Yeah, the original base didn't have a lighting effect to speak of, I added one to go along with the words I wanted on it. But as you say--her face had some shadow on it, which wasn't quite right. :)

This was fun, I shall enjoy playing with the other bases I've gotten, another Eowyn, a Galadriel, and an Arwen!

Version 2 is beautiful!!! Yes, much better and I love the buttonizing effect, too, and was hoping you wouldn't lose that.

Aaaah! You had it outline! No wonder!!! :) Since the font has to be so small, usually (unless it's very straight forward like Times Roman or Palatino) doing it in outline just doesn't work. This is great!

The light is more even, which brightens up the photo altogether. Fantastic job!!!

Yeah, I had to twiddle with the default settings on my Paint Shop Pro a bit--for whatever reason, the Text tool had been set by default to create text in outline form. I'm pretty sure those were the defaults since I haven't used PSP on this laptop since I re-installed it. But it was easily fixed. :)

Thanks for the input! It looks like the verdict is unanimous, so far.

Now all I need to do is find an excuse to use the icon on a post. And think about what to do with the other bases I scarfed from underdark_icons!

I like the lighting in 2.0 the best. And moving the "your laughter..." part helped me to see the rest of her beautiful face! :) I like the metallic color in "Light" very pretty.
