Oh good, Friday
May. 20th, 2005 12:07 pmYesterday I threw my neck out, so by yesterday afternoon I had a raging knot of pain just under my right shoulder. It was enough to make me feel ill, so I left work an hour early. My brilliant plan was to take it easy on the way home, stopping in the U-district on my continued quest for 11x14 Tyvek envelopes, and then to meet
solarbird at MurkSouth and head back to MurkNorth with her.
I was, however, thwarted in both of my goals. Neither the U Bookstore nor the Office Depot I'd gone to before had Tyvek envelopes of the proper size. Both had 9x12, and Office Depot had 10x13, but no 11x14. Foo. I will have to call round tomorrow morning before I go out to mail the manuscript and verify whether the nearest post offices actually have any appropriately sized envelopes. Also, Dara was not at MurkSouth although the car was! Only after I got there and got online via my handheld was I reminded by
risu that Dara had gone out for a movie showing with
mamishka... so I wound up taking the bus home anyway, without envelopes.
Once I got home Dara cracked my neck for me, and that made life much happier.
I chugged through my set of revisions for Chapter 4, and printed out chapters 1-4 as well. Nineteen more chapters to go! I hope to knock out most if not all of this work tonight.
I'm reading Julie Czerneda's Survival now, and enjoying it immensely. I really love the character of Brymn, the latest in her array of beautifully portrayed aliens. Also, *sighs happily*, there does seem to be some romantic interest going on for the female lead--NOT with the alien, mind you, but with a suitably dashing spy-disguised-as-a-bureaucrat type. Though I notice, reading this book, that she has a small detail in it that is too much like what I have planned for my Nereus book, so I'm going to have to change mine. Foo!
