General Aubrey-ogling hiyas go out to boxer_ferret, another gal joining my Friends list from over on russell_daily, and who has the Best Russell Crowe Quote Ever on her userinfo page: "I'd like to play passionate women, but no one will let me." Hee!

Also, it looks as though I'm going to have to make me a stop at Barnes and Noble on my way home to pick up Dead to the World as well as the new Julie Czerneda paperback. And one of these days I shall have to learn how to properly pronounce "Czerneda".

Aww, bummer! Where do you usually buy your books? I've had good luck getting the Aubrey/Maturins at the University Bookstore in the U-District. Granted, that's rather out of the way for a guy who lives in Bothell, but maybe it'd make a good weekend expedition? Also, their SF section tends to kick the ass of anywhere else I visit, though I'm a frequent stopper at Barnes and Noble as well.

I've got Desolation Island next on the queue to read. The Mauritius Command is fun just to see what Jack and Stephen were actually doing in 1805 (the year the film is set in), for the amusement value of the domestic scene at the beginning, and for seeing what Jack does when he's in command of a small fleet rather than just one ship.

*giggle* Okay, where do you acquire your books? ;) I'd not be surprised that the Aubrey/Maturins would be difficult to find in used bookstores. Especially the ones in the middle of the series. I figure anybody who likes them well enough to buy books further on into the series would be hanging onto them.

Yeah, that quote is a hoot.. It's the last one on his imdb quotes page. Another fave quote is, "I don't want to be the next Mel Gibson, I want to be the next Judy Davis".
