+0: So, since I'm employed until October, I haven't been searching hardcore for any actual full-time work. But I'm still in the job search engine on Adobe's site, and a few weeks back I sent in a resume for a position that looked good, just because, well, duh. I wasn't expecting an answer back--but I got one this week. A guy on that team sent me email out of the blue and asked if we could arrange a phone interview. I said "Yes!" because, well, duh. And I had that interview this morning. Can't rightly say how it went--I definitely lost points for not having one iota of experience with the particular type of software that team tests (i.e., digital image editing stuff), but I hope I gained some back by asking some intelligent questions when the guy got to the obligatory "Do you have any questions for me?" (He seemed to like that I asked what their breakdown of automated vs. manual testing was, for example.) And I probably lost a few points by saying straight out that I don't have any professional Mac testing experience, but I hope I regained some ground by making a point of mentioning that since we have Linux servers at home, I would have no problems with a Mac command shell.
We'll see what happens. It really came out of left field, and I'm honestly not expecting it to go anywhere, though it'd be nice if it did. Oh, and for general reference, when I got to the obligatory "what are your long-term goals?" question, I did manage to successfully repress "Sell novels!" as my answer. ;)
+1: Courtesy of
hederahelix, I bring you now this giggleworthy article on the Unitarian Jihad. Read and enjoy!
+2: I took out another chapter on the editing queue last night. YAY! Nine chapters to go till I can print off this bugger and send it off to Luna; everybody wish me luck!
+3: Got back on the treadmill last night since I hadn't done it in a few days--courtesy of getting in extra walking outside, which offset the need for the treadmill. It felt good. And I'm feeling good about my chances of making it down to 162 by the end of the month! I wore my good khaki shorts yesterday and noted with great pleasure that they didn't feel tight; I'm looking forward to accomplishing that with some of my other pairs of shorts that I haven't been able to wear in a while, too.
Miles yesterday: 2.23 (bus stop walk + treadmill)
Miles out of Hobbiton: 71.96
Miles to Rivendell: 386.04
