iPod geekery
Mar. 13th, 2005 07:34 pmSo I went and downloaded the most recent iPod Updater software today, the updater that gets you the Shuffle Songs option on the main menu. I also took the opportunity to try to do another hard system restore on the thing in the hopes of giving the battery another kick in the head, and I ripped a few of
solarbird's CDs to add to the ones I already had on my hard drive: Tom Lehrer (because there's nobody, NOBODY like Tom Lehrer), the other Deep Forest album of the three that we own between us, the Elfquest CD, and a Wang Chung and a They Might Be Giants of which I actually own copies on tape.
I'm grooving on the Shuffle Songs option. I'm most likely to do one of two things listening to my iPod at work: hitting my known favorite playlists, and listening to stuff at random. This makes it really easy to hit all the stuff I hardly ever listen to, without having to think much about it. Yay!
Now, after having fully recharged, I'm doing a full run with Shuffle Songs on to see how far I can get before the battery dies. As of this typing, I'm about an hour and 40 minutes in. Last time I paid attention, I was getting maybe a couple of hours before it'd die--then, I'd be able to futz with it a bit and get another burst of energy out of it. Then it'd die again, and I couldn't resurrect it. It'll be interesting to see what happens now, and how many times I can get away with kicking the battery in its little head before I have to buckle down and get a new one.

Date: 2005-03-14 03:50 pm (UTC)If you liked the LP, you might consider going to get the CD copy. Or the Tom Lehrer boxed set that came out a few years back, which is all three albums plus a few extra tracks, as I recall.
