+0: While I am not a slash-type, the general concept does amuse me; hell, I have ambitions of causing readers of my eventual books to start writing slash like crazy. Until then, I get to be amused by the slash potential of various fandoms I myself am in. Like Battlestar Galactica. And I just saw this over on [livejournal.com profile] bsg_women, quoted from Ron Moore's blog:
As far as I'm concerned, fan fiction (that is, fiction written for fun, or non-professionally) should feel free to go in whatever direction it feels like going. If you want to write a story about Starbuck being Adama's illegitimate daughter and how she's carrying on an illicit affair with Laura following an accident which flings them across time and space to the Ponderosa Ranch, be my guest. It's certainly no further out there than the K/S stories in Trekdom which detailed the sexual and romantic liasons between one James Kirk and one Mr. Spock.

If you're inspired by this series and these characters and you want to turn that inspiration into artistic expression, I've proud and hope you enjoy the process. (And it should go without saying that there is a very bright and bold line between writing for fun and writing for profit and only the foolish would care to mess with NBC-Universal's legal department.)

So go and slash to your heart's content!

-1: There is just no justice when my cat's meowing outside the bedroom door in the morning does not in fact get me up--but rather, makes me dream of getting up to go get her water and then almost falling down the stairs. I should have realized it was a dream because the stairs were all wrong for our house--but hey, it made sense at the time.

+2: And now, a list of things that the world should be glad that [livejournal.com profile] solarbird does not own:
  1. An airhorn.
  2. A tranquilizer gun.
  3. A rocket launcher (the University of Washington in particular should be glad about this).
  4. A tank.
  5. Her very own pet Godzilla.
  6. A fully stocked secret laboratory suitable for creating death rays (because those fools at the Academy rejected her research).
  7. The Mons Meg from Castle Edinburgh in Scotland (see previous notation re: rocket launcher).
  8. An orbiting space station with a gigantic laser pointed down to the Earth, populated by an elite league of superheroes.
  9. A moat full of alligators, into which she may hurl her enemies.

Hehe, somehow I don't think that's what the cat intended. :-)

The Mons Meg is very cool, and she's quite welcome to have it. Provided, of course, that YOU have all of the available powder.

True. In that case, if you would like to FedEx (not UPS - they won't deliver to my house any more after the Embarrassing eBay Incident In Which Dad Very Politely Nearly Got Arrested For Theft Even Though the Item In Question Was His) Meg and the powder to my folks' house, I'm sure my Dad would be more than happy to be the caretaker. It could go in my sister's room.

11) her own starship equipped with a cloaking device
12) her own personal transporter device (wouldn't want her popping up behind me and catching me unawares)

(ok so I'm a trek geek, shoot me)

My cat is very straightforward about waking you up. She walks on you,and meows in your ear. Hard to sleep thru a 23 pound cat walking all over you at 4:30 in the Ay-Em.
Things Dara Shouldn't Have..an orbital, pinpoint accurate, high power laser/linear accellerator, controlled by a cell phone. Safer than nukes, but still something that would be too tempting to use.Scott
