No brain tonight for Anna
Feb. 28th, 2005 08:30 pmTherefore, no writing. I'm ridiculously tired, almost to the point of nausea, and I've been feeling it all afternoon. I'm a little concerned that I got more mentally alert as soon as I had dinner, and I'm hoping this doesn't bode ill for my ability to actually zonk out tonight.
I have, however, gotten in a good Nethack game. And I shall shortly retire to bath, book, and bed, this time attempting Melatonex without alcohol. And making damned sure I feed the cat before I go to sleep.
Also, only half a mile's walk today because
spazzkat gave me a ride home from work tonight.

Date: 2005-03-01 09:46 pm (UTC)I'm sure someone's told you, but no caffeine, no alcohol, no spicy foods right before bed, no exercise right before bed, room darkening shades, check temperature in the bedroom, same bed time and wake time every day, even on weekends.... There's a terrific book called The Promise of Sleep by Dr. William Dement that you might want to check out.

Date: 2005-03-01 10:01 pm (UTC)I've wondered about the temperature in the bedroom... I've been more sensitive to temperature ever since I had the thyroid operation. I've been finding I need to turn on the gas fireplace for a little bit just before I go to bed, and I've caught myself shivering even under the thick comforter when I awaken in the middle of the night. I wonder if the room's gotten chilly enough that it impacts me.
But then, I've also historically had issues sleeping if I'm fighting something off, too. :/
