*hugs* It's odd--as I mentioned to gerimaple in my thread yesterday, I've barely looked at the man's work, but I have several friends who have read his Ender novels, and solarbird did interview him. So I can't really call myself a fan of his work.

But still. He was an SF author. That impacts me.

OH. You're RIGHT. Hart's Hope is also Card.

Chalker's the Changewinds trilogy--that's the only thing by him I've read, I remember now. I didn't like it.

But still, my previous commentary stands, re: impact and SF author and all that. *blush*

tho i've not read his stuff, he writes on the fringe of what i prefer to read, i'd heard many folks say they like his stuff...
it is always sad when someone who has so much left inside goes, but at least he knew where he was going... maybe the view was better there? :(

*nodnod* Totally... and I am expecting that there will be something in his honor this coming Norwescon. Most likely at Worldcon as well.

Awww, man! A great author is gone. His Well of Souls series is probably one of the best books out there. Chalker is one of my top five authors.

Dara and the other folks who run Norwescon will be signing that condolences card this weekend, I guess.

I expect there will be something in his honor at this year's Norwescon, too.

You misunderstand, hon. Mr. Chalker was not a personal friend; I'm just sad because of his loss to the SF/F community, because he was an author.

But thanks for the hugs, anyway. :)
