Thank you, everybody, for your opinions and advice! But I think my inner introvert is winning for a few reasons today:

* solarbird is not up for two parties tonight, and I'm seriously intimidated by the idea of showing up at two parties full of strangers by myself;
* Despite the deep allure of fudge, I think that stuff would be extremely dangerous to my current weight loss resolve;
* I wrote exactly four words last night and this is Not Acceptable.

Anyway, pauldf and writersweekend, thanks for the invites! Perhaps another time when Dara and I can come together.

Actually, it doesn't work that way for me. :) If I don't make quota one night, this doesn't mean I have to make up the loss the next; I tried that initially and found out that it was a sure way to kill my muse, because I got more worried about how many words I was writing and less about actually telling the STORY. The goal is more to actually to try to do something related to writing every day; 500 words a day is a nice way to measure my progress, but I don't sweat it if I don't make that count. Much. :) But I do get annoyed at myself if I don't manage to do ANYTHING at all, and four words pretty much qualifies as nothing. ;P

Also, I probably wasn't going to have any dessert anyway, as there is nothing dessert-ish in the house.

good ;) I wish there was something dessertish in this house, but there's basically nothing until grocery shopping tomorrow evening... and I'll be damned if I am going anywhere else tonight... being made into Palin-sicle, or Shik-sicle, once in one night is way more than enough to want to do it twice... ::sigh:: I'll find something, I suppose... maybe oatmeal...

Properly prepared oatmeal doesn't necessarily suck. You could put a bit of sugar and cinnamon in it, perhaps. Or maybe even little apple bits if you have them. I have this memory of apple cinnamon Quaker oatmeal packets not being too bad, and I expect it'd be better if made from scratch.
