Sleepy Wednesday morning babbling
Jan. 19th, 2005 09:26 am+0: Greetings to
mpulse, who I see is the latest person looking at my journal. Hiya!
+1: Today's reason #1 I want to give Canada a group hug: the Canadian military has given the OK to gay marriages. To all the Canadians on my Friends list, I salute you. Thanks to
brightbeak for the link.
+2:
mamishka came over last night for another round of Firefly goodness, and we got to what is our favorite episode: "Out of Gas". Great Mal mileage. And it's the episode that makes him really, really remind me of Han Solo, between having noticed that he has stripes on his pants AND that he took one look at his destined ship and fell head over heads in love. ;) That very, very much reminds me of how A.C. Crispin wrote up Han first laying eyes on the Falcon, in the second book of the Solo trilogy she did.
Which brings me to reason #2 why I want to give Canada a group hug: the lovely and talented Mr. Fillion is apparently Canadian, which I hadn't known! I looked him up imdb.com last night, and learned that he is in fact from Edmonton. And younger than me by two years. Who knew?
Also, Meems let me babble at her about both my books in progress, and she babbled at me about her latest purchase, and it was all pleasant conversation. Also, we had popcorn. Mmmmm, popcorn.
+/-3: The weather around here has taken a turn for the warm. Warm enough that I don't need to zip up my coat in the morning, and I don't need my gloves or my scarf. Despite having lived in or near Seattle for 15 years now, I still find weather blips like this in January extremely strange. It's also been very rainy, about which I'm not particularly fond, but then, we need the water.

Date: 2005-01-20 05:12 am (UTC)While I have been known to have the occasional tan line, this is mostly only because I actually take the bus to work and walk to my bus stops. ;) Even in the summer, sunlight is a precious thing around here. You may bitch about your cold weather all you like, but there are reasons that Seattle winters are often anathema to those who suffer from seasonal depression. It gets really, really gray here, and gloomy, and dark. Plus, the wetness of the winters, at least for me, makes it all the more likely I'll get a cold or something.
So yeah, our weather has its drawbacks, too.

Date: 2005-01-20 05:30 am (UTC)As for tanning, well, I have no scientific basis for this, but I would think that the temperature has absolutely nothing to do with it. The strength of the sunlight is the point. I'd think that you'd have a much better chance of getting a tan on a crystal clear 40 degree day than you would on a day where it's cloudy and 75 out. If in doubt, look it up. Google knows all. :)
