Can any of y'all have a peek at this post over on my [livejournal.com profile] scuzzboppers community and advise [livejournal.com profile] mamishka about her situation? [livejournal.com profile] mizkit, [livejournal.com profile] shadowhwk, [livejournal.com profile] jesshartley, and [livejournal.com profile] writersweekend, I'm particularly looking in your directions. But if any of the rest of you can offer any insights, that would be welcome as well. Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly, WindStorm Creative has the promo questions on their submissions guidelines...they want authors to promote themselves and their work.

This publisher is small and overworked...if you don't hear right away, that could be why. If you need blurbs from other authors, go for big names. If you don't know any, you should be coming to WW so you can meet some...:) Seriously, there's a good chance you could get some blurbs by networking with some of the folks who show up at our parties. Like the one on the 22nd. Email me for directions.

Have you asked Joss Whedon for a blurb? That's where I'd start.
Of course, I am fearless and will call anyone and ask for anything. Question: do you have to have permission from the powers that be to do a media tie-in guide?

The Lighting Rod press has purely opinion based episode guides, so no they don't generally seek out permission. They made this all sound very easy to me and didn't note all of the work that they would want me to do. While I can understand it is necessary, I feel a bit deceived by them. They were not upfront about a lot of the stuff that they were expecting me to do.

I would be rather fearful writing to Joss about a blurb, because this has not been cleared with him or anyone else associated with Firefly.

I do know that they are small and overworked - but if they are expecting me to do all this stuff by the end of January, and I can't understand it, well that's why I made the posting in the first place - to get some input in a more timely manner.

I don't know any big name authors. I barely know any authors at all. I don't consider myself to be an author - I am an artist who happens to be dabbling in writing.

I also noted that you didn't answer any of my questions regarding the particulars of the Media Kit. If you have some information or clarifications to offer, that would be appreciated.
