Gasp! My journal!

Being without my journal sucked. I spent most of yesterday, in between puttering around the house doing random chores, hitting the stupid Refresh button on my browser and thinking (more or less), "Is it up yet is it up yet is it up yet is it up yet?" And sulking because my journal was naturally on the last database cluster to come back online. And rather feeling for the LJ staffers, as I've had to burn midnight oil a time or two fixing computer or software disasters, and that sucks too.

You would think I would have gotten more writing done, but nooooooo. In fact, I came very close to trying to install Movable Type on my murkworks.net account, and I did install Wordpress on the server--though I gave up fiddling with it around 1:30am last night when I realized that Wordpress, despite having one up on Movable Type for being a completely free piece of software, cannot easily support multiple blogs on the same installation. Drat.

It's good to be back, though. And I notice, coming back up, that I have a new person on the list of folks who have Friended me: otoselkie! Welcome!

Now everybody tell me to write 500 words today.

I'll be happy to get out 500! I've gotten a few so far, but am finding it slow going today.

Half of me wants to hear back from Tor NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW and the other half of me wants to not hear anything back till I get the third draft done! I figure, heck, if I make it all the way to the six-month mark and can get the third draft done by then, I can comfortably start whinging about why they haven't gotten back to me yet. I understand that's a writerly tradition. ;)

I am, indeed, on the MadCow cluster. I got that piece of data some time ago--MadCow seems to be prone to acting up more often than the other ones. I've seen it show up on lj_maintenance more than once.

And I'm slowly hammering away on the word count. :)

Welcome back to you too... :) Don't feel bad, as solarbird might have told you, I was going through LJ withdrawal as well... at least I had time to watch the $45 worth of pre-viewed dvds I bought from Blockbuster on Friday... :) and to think that will be the kind of work I'll be getting into whenever I get around to finishing my degree... I don't envy those guys the work they had to do... but the LJ's are back up (along with the conspiracy theories et. al...)

*smirk* For some definition of 'funny' where it actually means 'pathetic paranoia'. Because, let's face it, Patriot Act or not, no government peon's going to be paid even minimum wage to troll through five million Livejournals--most of which are high schoolers whinging about their classes or their boyfriends or girlfriends or their parents.

Besides--it ain't like they'd have to stage a power outage to get the data. In fact, they'd specifically have to not do any such thing, because if the computers are down, the data can't be copied off of them.

hehehe... keep in mind the lj community it was posted on... yes, I admit, I am rationally paranoid about a few things (well, more than a few things where the government is concerned, and having a brother-in-law that works for a government agency telling me I should be scared (reassuring, huh?) but that was just a little too far fetched...

I did note the community in question, yes; I wasn't going to remark upon it, just on the grounds that I do understand that some folks out there who are in support of marijuana legalization aren't just thick-headed stoners looking for their next high. But. :)
