New journal feed created

For those of you who are musically inclined, on behalf of howlinhobbit, I have created a syndicated feed for his blog, Don't Make Me Uke. You can add it to your LJ Friends list with the username dontmakemeuke. Enjoy!

It's an account on LJ that pulls in content off external sites and makes it available to be read off your LJ Friends list. More can be read on LJ's FAQ page here.

Several folks on my Friends list have external blogs but LJ accounts set up to do feeds of them for the benefit of folks who are only on LJ. :) mizkit, agrimony, watermelonpunch, and risu are all fine examples of this!

Basically RSS and Atom are two XML formats. Livejournal provides both for journal content--and so do other sorts of blogging sites. Like, say, Movable Type, which powers mizkit's journal. It reduces the content down to the basic underlying XML so things like syndicated feeds can go grab that XML and do interesting things with it.

Thanks again, Anna! I think I got it sussed. I put an entry into the howlinhobbit lj saying "friend this feed" to read my real blog (i.e. the one I update) and set up my friends page so that it only shows Don't Make Me Uke.

Whew.

Now, if the sweet & sour pork gets done before I faint from the fine aroma, my night is complete. :-)
