This just in from weather.com for the Seattle area and surrounding communities:

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service

...EVERETT AND VICINITY-HOOD CANAL/KITSAP PENINSULA- SEATTLE METROPOLITAN AREA-TACOMA AREA- 940 AM PST WED NOV 17 2004
... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE CONTINUES A HIGH WIND WATCH FROM THURSDAY MORNING TO THURSDAY EVENING FOR THE GREATER PUGET SOUND REGION...

SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL RISE TO AS MUCH AS 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH THURSDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE INTO THE AFTERNOON.

A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE... BUT NOT CERTAIN... FOR DAMAGING WINDS. HIGH WINDS CAN TOPPLE TREES... DOWN POWER LINES... AND DAMAGE SOME STRUCTURES.

This ought to be fun! (In that 'lay you ten to one odds Kenmore and Bothell lose power' kind of way...')

I guess I'd better not attempt fixing 40 clove garlic chicken. My record the last six months has been Chicken: 1, Windstorm/Power Outage: 3.

Weee!!! windstorms are my thing... I could stand outside in the high winds forever and not be phased... well, except if i get blown over... Get a lot of windstorms in this area, and since most of our weather comes off the pond, we get a lot of rain or (in the winter)-ugh- snow with it...

We have too many trees to do that. [livejournal.com profile] beergutt stood out in our back yard during a storm earlier this year... and the top half of a tree flew over his head and missed him by about five feet.

I don't care where I am... I have been known to stand outside in the middle of tornado warnings, feeling the wind, and watching the clouds race by... back in '85 during the big outbreak in PA, OH, and NY, my brother and I were outside running around in the rain...

No bet. :-)

My best storm was the one that hit on Thanksgiving -- fortunately, close enough to the end of the cooking that I was able to salvage the main course. :-)

Whooosh...

I sat out a tropical storm when I lived in Florida...in a trailer out in the middle of a field. Nowhere to go, really..probably 60+ MPH winds..the trailer was moving somewhat, yet the power never went off. Maybe God doesn't always hate trailers....Scott

Well, I'm not THAT adventurous... If there's one coming directly toward me, I will run for cover... ;)

True, electricity is a goodness... I still like the wind though...
