It has occurred to me in the last few days that if I do not get a rejection letter from Tor by this next Saturday (the 20th), then I will meet the one month + one week turnaround time from "acknowledgement of manuscript" to "rejection letter" accomplished by Faerie Blood's first visit to their slush pile. I'm hoping for either "it takes longer to get the rejection letter this time" or "I get a rejection letter with better feedback"! And of course it goes without saying that "please send us the rest of your novel" would be cool, too. So everybody keep your fingers crossed that I don't get a rejection letter for another week and a half! ;)

(This makes me think I really do need to get more of the edits done on the third draft of FB, though...)

Thanks. :) And the best I can suggest is, maybe try a little project? Then you get the ego boost of finishing it, and maybe some practice as well that could go towards doing something bigger?

if I could concentrate, and not misplace it- I should have said... I started one story 14 yrs ago and misplaced it... was a damn good one too, all 20 pages of it anyway... ::sigh::

that was long before I had my own computer... it was typed on my friend's computer and printed out... it's probably still around here somewhere... in a box... in the basement... getting moldy... lol

I know this might be a bit of a radical concept, but you could, like, y'know, LOOK for it. ;) Who knows, you might also find your Elfquest books. :) If either some of my writing or my Elfquest books were lost somewhere in my house, it would drive me bonkers till I found them!

Tweren't me... I like to know where my stuff is... it was the other party living here that likes to "clean up" and put things places where noone can find them- like the tarot deck that disappeared 4 yrs ago :-\

Well, presumably it is still somewhere within the house, yes? Perhaps you should schedule a day for just going through a part of the house and re-organizing the stuff you find and putting it in its proper place. You might also take the opportunity to get rid of stuff you don't need any more.

It's a good thing to do every so often, and in some ways, oddly cathartic.

True, if i can find the time... I usually am too tired to do much of anything when I get home from work... and on my days off, I'm always running around and doing errands... ugh.. maybe this spring when i have my first week of vacation...

Well, don't do it all in one big sweep, if time is an issue. Do little chunks at a time. Say, half an hour just cleaning up one shelf. Or whatever works for you. It's kind of like writing a book--if you keep doing little bits and pieces of it, sooner or later you'll catch yourself and think, "Gosh, look what I did! I have a book!" Or, "Gosh, my house is clean!" :)

But I also find that it helps to specifically schedule something in advance, when it comes to cleaning. Otherwise I'm all too prone to keep putting it off and putting it off and putting it off. Again, like writing a book. You've got to make the time. Otherwise it probably won't get done.
