There is a deeply dangerous pile of candy in the kitchen here. Full-size candy bars of many kinds; it's like the vending machine exploded, or something. Of course, there's an almost as deeply dangerous pile of candy at home, because although we got quite the horde of adorable little monsters on our doorstep last night, they didn't make off with all of the candy in our bowl. (Though not for lack of trying. Hands down the cutest kids for me were the tots who were barely more than one year old but who already grasped the concept of candy; the one-year-old girl wrapped her cute little fingers around a Heath bar and tried to jam it right into her mouth, wrapper and all. Her mother couldn't resist the Heath bars, either. Snicker.)

Second cutest kid was definitely the Littlest Boba Fett, as mentioned by [livejournal.com profile] solarbird over on her journal.

[livejournal.com profile] spazzkat came over last night to help us hand out candy, and in honor of the evening, we watched two zombie flicks back to back: 28 Days Later and the remake of Dawn of the Dead. This was the first time I'd seen either of these movies, and they're great fun for zombie aficianados, though 28 Days Later is pretty effin' grim. A better movie than Dawn of the Dead, though, by far. The major amusing part of the latter of these two movies can be summed up in two words: ZOMBIE BABY!

Now all I have to do is RESIST THE SWEET, SWEET CANDY GOODNESS.

I was lucky to see the only (?) stage adaptation of NoLD about 4 years ago for my birthday... My friend Dave played Johnny, and we got in for a discount... At least it was the only stage adaptation at the time... i dunno if it has been done elsewhere since...

I think the leading costumes we saw at the Bothell Safe Halloween events were Spidey for boys, and Dorothy for girls. I couldn't figure out why there were so many Dorothies...

This must be why they don't come to our house

We live in Bothell, and had lights on and a jack-o-lantern out, and zero trick-or-treaters.

We only got one group knocking after we got home and put on our lights, too.

It must be your location. We got lots of trick-or-treaters between 5:30-7:30pm.

RATION the candy in snack-sized ziplock baggies, and put the rest in the freezer (as in the ones you won't get to this week)
then it's easier to exert won't-power over the goodies :)

candy IS one of the food groups for geeks!
coffee/caffiene/soda & chocolate are two of the others, and chips rounds out the 4th! :)
and during election results heck, if there even IS a clear winner tomorrow night, you will need something!

I have "28 Days" on DVD, but I've haven't seen Dawn of the Dead. I never really cared much for splatter films, though I do like horror movies-there's a difference. The coolest trickertreaters that came my way were the Darth Family-the entire family in Darth Vader style outfits. The feminized version had a plaid skirt with it..Scott
