+/-0: I think whatever clobbered me yesterday must have been some sort of sinus infection. I'd been sneezing off and on the last few days, and occasionally having watery eyes and nosebleeds. :P And since I'm not allergic to anything that I know of, this seemed like the most likely culprit. After mostly lying around yesterday doing pretty much nothing of consequence, I do feel better today--though I still didn't sleep the night in one solid piece. Kept waking up more and looking at the clock. But at least this time I did actually fall asleep in between clock glances, and I distinctly remember dreaming about Great Big Sea.

+1: Working with [livejournal.com profile] aerialscribe and [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt to get a new domain name set up for the former. Hopefully that should be online soon. I must also remember to make sure that once the domain name is active, newmoon redirects all the traffic for Jeff's old domain over to the new one. Apache-geek clues learned in previous LJ threads should therefore apply here.

-2: No writing the last couple of days, and it's only partially the fault of my being distracted by RP on TM. Much of the rest of it has been fighting off Whatever It Was mentioned up there in item 0; some of it has also been me really not being terribly happy with Chapter 8 of Lament, and seriously considering scrapping it and taking another run through it. It's just not working for me, in that way of "whatever I'm doing is not quite right here and it's going to drive me batshit till I fix it".

Pretty certain that I will probably not be doing Nanowrimo this year at this point, at least not 'officially'. Every time I think about one of my pending Nano-flavored ideas, my muse goes, "Naaah, you really ought to work on Lament." I have learned that listening to the muse is generally a Good Idea.

But oh well, I'll enjoy reading about the adventures of others for this year's round!

+3: Got a ride home with one of my teammates Wednesday night, and she showed me a Secret Ninja route to Kenmore, cutting through Kirkland and bypassing 520 and 405 entirely. I shall have to remember this for future reference, for whenever I have to drive in to work. Because if there's anything that sucks more than the parking at Building 50, it's being stuck in traffic on 520 for upwards of an hour.

-3.5: As a general FYI to Self, must be certain to get out of work by 5 if I want to actually catch the proper busses to get home in anything resembling a timely fashion. The 245 seems to be running consistently late, and if the 5:22 run of that bus lags a few minutes, I will apparently miss the 342. I got away with not missing it on Tuesday, but only apparently because the 342 was also running late.

+4: I have hit a new high in personal geekdom: being online via my handheld computer while bathing. I IM'd [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, who was downstairs in the living room, and told her, "It doesn't get any geekier than this." She replied, "Oh yeah? Where's the webcam?" I do not, however, think I will do this often, if nothing else because I will be scared silly of actually dropping the frob into the bubbly water. And that would make me Sad.

+5: Although I was Mostly Asleep on My Feet Girl last night, Dara and I did go out to sushi with [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat at Toyoda, the sushi joint in Lake City. It's not as good as I-Heart, but it is Perfectly Acceptable Sushi, and has the additional advantage of being way closer to Kenmore. However, not so good with the Incredibly Crowded. Every time we've eaten there so far we've had to have a table, and since the place is small, all the people waiting to be seated have to cluster around the front door in a tightly packed herd. And there aren't too many places to sit, either. But still, mmmm sushi, and they did have very, very tasty albacore last night.

+6: Great Big Sea has a LOT of music. I tend to forget this as my iPod has two playlists for my B'ys: one with all my favorites, which is the one I usually listen to, and the other with the entire huge glom of GBS songs, all 100+ of 'em. But I got into the mood to listen to some of the other songs that I haven't heard in a while--like the ones off the very first album, the self-titled Great Big Sea, the one that dates clear back to when Darrell was still doing some of the lead singing. It's the album from which "Excursion Around the Bay" originally hails--though I never can listen to the studio version without putting in "HEY!" at the end of every chorus. ;) It's fun to go back that far, though, every so often, and listen to how the band was still getting its sound together. The really kickass harmonies weren't quite there yet, except maybe on "I'se the B'y", which is definitely a ditty I'd like to hear them do live with their current vocal power. And there's a nice instrumental or two on this album as well, ones which have that very distinctive sort of strum pattern that says "THIS IS GREAT BIG SEA" to me, even in the middle of my Celtic Instrumentals playlist.

And also, I have given the link to greatbigsea.com to the aforementioned coworker who gave me a lift home. Spreading the GBS love! One of my sworn duties as a member of the GBS Street Team. ;)

I have getting on for a day and a half of Fleetwood Mac, including live bootlegs, on iTunes.
