Stupid insomnia
Oct. 21st, 2004 07:13 amI am absolutely fried. I have been tossing and turning in bed for the last four hours, glancing periodically at the clock and wondering what the bloody hell I am doing conscious; I think I've gotten maybe two or three hours of consecutive sleep at most. The annoying part of this is, this generally only happens when I'm ill, so I can't help but wonder if I'm fighting something off, especially since in the last hour or so of this tossing and turning, I started shivering, too.
The temperature in the house has been wonky; it was really cold when I got home from work last night.
risu remarked on it, on the MurkMUSH, and it certainly felt so to me when I got home. And the weather has been slowly aiming towards cold around here, too, and damper as the first signs of cold, wet autumn are stumbling in. AND, the lab where I'm back working now is keeping up its longstanding tradition of being Fucking Freezing; there's a reason the test account we all use to do our tests on our intranet is "igloolab". :P Between all of this and my own internal temperature sense seeming to have taken some alteration ever since my thyroid surgery, I do definitely feel like my internal core temperature is out of sync with everything that's around me.
But only overnight, from last night to this morning, has it felt like it's interfered with my sleep. I was half-tempted to not turn on the air filter in the bedroom since it does blast air over right on me, but I am used to sleeping with the sound of it now, and if I'm sleeping in absolute silence that distracts me, too.
Bah. I've emailed in to my lead and the FTE guy I work with, apologized for my absence, and updated them on stuff they need to know from what I did yesterday and what I was going to do today. Hopefully I'll be more coherent tomorrow.

Date: 2004-10-21 04:41 pm (UTC)The mainframe room at my last job was kept at 45(an alarm went off at 60). Great place to park a 2-liter jug of Coke to cool it off.Scott

Date: 2004-10-21 09:34 pm (UTC)I think a radio would probably distract me unless it was an all-instrumental station. The air filter works well just because it's a constant low level of white noise, pretty much.
And I don't know how cold it gets in the lab at work, but it gets pretty freggin' cold. It was cold enough last year for me just after I broke my arm that it frequently made the bone hurt as it was mending.
