Elapsed turnaround time to rejection letter, 0 days and counting. Let's see how long it takes this time to get my manuscript acknowledgement postcard and the rejection letter back!
Best of luck to you, sweetie! I imagine it's kind of like sending your kid to the first day of school armed only with a slightly goofy outfit and a Spiderman lunch box. You hope it goes well, but you're secretly a bit worried some bully is going to roll them for their Capri-Sun, right?
As a side note, I saw 'The Quick And The Dead' for the first time last night. A terrible movie, but MAN is Russel Crowe hot in it! But the Dumbest Ending Ever! She wins, blows up the town, AND LEAVES HOT RUSSELL CROWE??!?!?
Hee, you have it pegged--and in this case, my kid's already come home crying once to tell me she got a C+ on her report card. ;)
Muahahahahaha! QatD is an ABSOLUTELY GOOFY movie. And absolutely fun. Russell's Prettiest Role EVER. I too cannot fathom why the HELL she left Cort behind in that town.
(Especially after I saw the bordello scene that got cut out of the American release of that flick. >:) )
(Mmmmmmmmmm two-handed rifle-firin'-over-both-shoulders-backwards Cort mmmmmmmmmm DAMN he was pretty!)
Wow, the bordello scene wasn't in the American version? That was way, er, hot. Hee. But not indecent. Sure, there was a boob seen, but mostly it was leather pants and rain.
Yeah, they cut out the bordello scene! *grump* And there isn't even a deleted scenes section on the DVD. ;P I had to settle for downloading a crappy .ram file to actually see the scene, but it was enough to get me the gist of what was going on. ;) I have this distinct recollection of Cort dazedly muttering about how it must be the "Lord's will" that he was in that place at that time, while Sharon Stone did extremely interesting things without taking his chains off. Muahahahaha.
That's easy to say for someone who hasn't, to my knowledge, actually read my work yet. ;)
*giggle* But this is mostly just me being realistic, as I am aware that most new writers will in fact get rejection letters. And to psyche myself into the thought process of 'It's OKAY to get a rejection letter, it just means I'll send the story off to Baen next!' And to make it so that I'm prepared for the worst case scenario--and all the more surprised and pleased if I DON'T get a rejection letter. :)
