R.I.P. Rainsong (1991-2004)

solarbird told me as I was getting up this morning that her older budgie, Rainsong, passed away during the night. This was not exactly a surprise, as the poor little critter had been looking pretty raggedy for months now. She'd forgotten she could fly, and kept falling down in the cage. Her wings were lying weird against her body as well.

Still though, sniffle. She lived a long and full life. Well, for a parakeet.

*nodnod* It was really pitiful to see the poor thing falling over! Made me wanna go "awww" and hug her, except well, she probably wouldn't get that, 'cause mammal thing. ;)

But now she has gone to the Great Cage in the Sky to join Woodlock, where I'm sure they will have piles of tasty food.

That they'll be scared of. Because they're budgies.

But at least they'll have piles of tasty food! ;)

Yeah. But at least now that she has gone to budgie heaven, she's probably not living next door to a creature twice her size who could put her entire head in its beak!

oh! I remember you guys getting her though (is that possible?) so yeah, that was a while ago. I'm glad she had you to hang out with all this time.

Indeed. Dara takes exceptionally good care of her birdies! So Woodlock and Rainsong both were in good hands. :) As are Oasis and Zoe!

But Woodlock and Rainsong survived an assassination attempt by Sparky and pretending to be fish at Microsoft, and Rainsong survived having a fire extinguisher thrown through the window by an asshole neighbor to the north and getting a new cagemate and moving to MurkNorth. They did, indeed, have long and full budgie lives!

Awwwwwwwwww! Well she was a lovely budgie and well loved and looked after by her birdie mamma Solarbird... and really that's a wonderful thing for a pretty bird like Rainsong. But still, I'm sure you're going to miss her.

We do miss her. :) Dara says she'll have to think about whether to get another budgie soon--Oasis, the remaining one, is ten years old now and a younger budgie would beat him up. We may just have to wait till Oasis passes on and then get new birdies then.
