Murkworks.net status update
Aug. 29th, 2004 10:38 amFor anyone on my Friends list who has a Murkworks.net account, I've gotten the web server on lodestone online--so http://www.murkworks.net SHOULD be answering browser hails now. I am keeping a running log of system updates up there right now, till we can get mail service on newmoon restored. Please consult that address for the latest status. If it doesn't work for you yet, try http://209.20.199.11 instead.
My apologies to all y'all--this is pissing us off, too. ;P

Date: 2004-08-29 02:56 pm (UTC)Basically, the deal is that we have recovered just about all of the user files from the server that got hacked. And at this point we are pretty sure that the only user files that got messed with are in people's web pages, but just the index files. If you didn't have a web page on our system, you probably don't have to worry about it.
What I was asking everyone else to do is to check any other files just to make sure that the files are still what they are supposed to be, and that they didn't get changed by the hackers. We are PRETTY SURE that they didn't, but we are asking people to just check all their files and make sure that they are okay.
This is also not necessarily something you have to worry about if you didn't store any files on our server and were just using it for mail, and since you were downloading mail anyway, your mail wouldn't have been at risk.
Does all this make sense? Let me know if I need to clarify anything; I've been short on sleep the last few days. :)
And at this point, the DSL is working fine! We're just to the point of fixing the actual broken servers, now. :)

Date: 2004-08-29 02:04 pm (UTC)lexfa.org status check
Date: 2004-08-30 04:48 am (UTC)"r00ted Team ownz ur b0x :: FilhOte_ccs e elkern se amam"
Can I give Rod the go-ahead to reload the Lexfa website now, or is this a bad thing?
Re: lexfa.org status check
Date: 2004-08-30 10:28 am (UTC)All other files SHOULD be okay, but it won't hurt Rod to doublecheck them.
I've already told him on the MUSH, but feel free to mention to him again that if he can't reach lodestone.murkworks.net by name yet, he should try the numeric address of 209.20.199.11. The login password should be the same as the one on newmoon. Unless you or Rod changed that, it's the same initial default password that Dara set when she initially made the account. If either of y'all need that, still, I can give the password to Rod again on the MUSH.
