Since I haven't actually posted to my LJ for the past few days...

-/+0: Been dealing with severe back and hip pain in the last few days. This has been a lesser issue almost all year, mostly triggered by me twisting around a lot when I sleep and by walking downhill to get to the Montlake bus stop in the morning. Over the weekend, though, it became a major issue while I was at the Street Fair, doing a lot of walking and standing all up and down the Ave. On Sunday, it even drove me to tears despite having a chiropractor appointment on Saturday afternoon.

So I had another emergency chiropractor appointment Monday evening as well as another massage appointment with Liz last night--and since then, things seem to have improved considerably. I am not only now no longer in active pain, things seem to have shaken themselves out enough that I am in much less pain than I can remember since before breaking my arm. I begin to wonder whether I might have thrown my hips out in the impact that broke said arm and it's been slowly building up as a problem ever since.

-1: Not much writing lately. Mostly due to trying to help TM shake through all the major issues going on; I have a bit of a problem reminding myself sometimes that I have in fact mostly retired from the Staff, and that I am a support staffer. On the other hand, well, I care about what's going on, so. I just have to remind myself to actually make time for the writing. Others are welcome to remind me, too. ;)

-/+2: Re-read The Bourne Identity, having just finally read [livejournal.com profile] mamishka's copy of The Bourne Supremacy. Also bought myself a copy of the movie and watched it last night as I was icing my back (as per both chiropractor and LMP's instructions). Was vaguely disappointed by the movie, being reminded that it is a MUCH simpler plotline than the book is and has absolutely no relation to the plot in the book, past having an amnesiac guy named Jason Bourne in it, who is trying to figure out who the hell "Treadstone" is. The heroine was still named Marie, but her last name was different and so was her entire backstory.

+3: As sort of an apology to myself for indulging in the fluff, I have picked up where I left off reading Cape Random. Quite the mental switch--but the quiet peace of Newfoundland in the 1800's seems to be a good break from high-speed spy stuff set in the late '70's.

-4: Horribly behind on Angel and have not yet had the opportunity to catch up on the remaining episodes. Need to make a date to do that with [livejournal.com profile] mamishka!

+5: Had another re-org in my department at work and have yet another new lead. This amuses me, given that my two of my three former leads are in fact still on the team as FTE's. The new guy seems like he's on top of things and my duties do not seem to be about to change in the final month and a half on my contract. I was asked about the possibility of extending me--which is good, because that means they like what I'm doing. But since I'll have worked the full year, they won't be able to extend me. So that's bad. Sigh. On the other hand--one of the former contractors who was working on the team earlier in my tenure has himself come back, so who knows? Maybe after my 100-day mandatory furlough is up, if I don't have another job already, I could come back here. That would sit well with me; I like the work. It's not exciting, but it is steady.

-6: On the other hand, my contract IS about to run out in a month and a half and I WILL need new work. Any rumblings about job openings for software testers who have current experience in automation are hitherto solicited. I've updated my resume. If you want it, talk to me.

++++++7: GREAT! BIG! SEA! ON! SATURDAY! But y'all knew that already. ;) [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and I will even be meeting one of the former members of our jamming group for the festivities, which promises to be enjoyable indeed.

We're desperate for people who know LoadRunner and WinRunner, but I think it's a hell of a commute.

I'm so glad the chiropractor is helping, at least! As for the hips thing, it is ENTIRELY possible. Apparently it's not actually very hard to throw your hips off. When I went to the chiro after my car accident, I was completely focused on my neck, shoulders and back. She said, 'lay down, your hips are probably off.' And lo and behold, apparently they were. It didn't hurt (it hadn't been all that long), and she only did the adjustment once, and said they were fine after that. But just the force of slamming on the brake that hard had jostled them off. So you may very well have messed them up a little when you broke your arm, and it's just taken this long for the problem to magnify to the point of causing pain. Whatever the reason, I'm glad they've got you feeling better again!

I've never read the Bourne Identity, only seen it. And for some reason, it was one of those movies that I didn't see and didn't see, for ages, because for some reason I was convinced I'd already seen it. I was also convinced that I'd liked it when I'd seen it. But I'd never seen it. I still am not sure what movie I was really thinking of... ;) By the way, whatever happened to the Hobbit in German?
