Night before last, I slept positively atrociously; I got maybe about four or five hours' worth of sleep, thanks to waking up three or four times during the course of the night, taking forever to fall asleep, and not really getting restful sleep once I did. As a result I was completely fried yesterday, and alternated between crying out of general exhaustion, trying to slog my way through the day with a head containing a brain the approximate consistency of orange marmalade, and trying to remind myself periodically that no matter how tired I am, a keyboard does not make a good pillow. Especially at work. Especially at work in a lab occupied by dozens of other testers.

So I managed to stagger through the day anyway, while periodically babbling incoherently both on the MurkMUSH and on my LJ; [livejournal.com profile] solarbird says I'm a lot funnier when I'm stressed out. ;P :) What made it extra special adventuresome was trying to eschew caffeine as well, on the grounds of trying to let my system get a bit of recovery time from all the caffeine it's had this week. That did help some.

But by the time I got out of work and went to Capitol Hill to meet [livejournal.com profile] mamishka for a sneak preview showing of Laws of Attraction, I was barely awake. Especially after listening to Enya on the iPod on the way, which damn near knocked me out. (I wanted nice, peaceful, soothing music; Enya seemed like a good idea at the time. When you are operating on about five hours of sleep, however, Enya is a musical sedative.) Did manage to catch up with Meems, though I kept popping out of the line to get food and finding it extremely difficult to focus on making the right decisions to actually GET the food. Tried buying a couple of hun bo (what the hell is the plural of hun bo, anyway?) at the nearest QFC, only to discover that they really aren't very good if you don't heat them up first. So I had to settle for popcorn and SweetTarts to fuel me during the film.

The film was, at least, enjoyable. The weirdest part was that they had actual security on the film--a bag check AND a woman with a wand AND a guy to stamp your hand as you went in. It seemed amazingly excessive even for a sneak preview of a movie. I couldn't help but wonder if there was somebody important in the building or something.

But the movie itself was light and fluffy and fun. Pierce Brosnan is still devastatingly charming even if he's getting up there in years. And his chemistry with Julianne Moore was very believable.

Went home afterwards, did nothing much of consequence, and then fell into bed. Not so critically exhausted today, but still pretty wiped, and looking forward to getting home. May skip [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt's birthday party entirely, just because I honestly need the rest. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Feel free to skip, darlin'. The point is for everyone to have a good time, and it sounds like you'd be happier with some down time.

This one isn't really a sequel, either, except in the way that Two Towers was a sequel to Fellowship. It's the second half of the movie, rather.

Totally unrelated...

It's all your fault.
I dug up my old RP logs and such and damn, I miss the days when you RPed blackhair. :/ That was such fun. :)

You ever get the inkling up again, lemme know. ;)

SOUNDS LIKE PARENTING! I said to someone later, "Wow, 3 years later and still not a restful night of sleep in sight!"

More than likely, they were searching for bootleggers sneaking in with video cameras. That's how movies end up on Kaazaa before they're in theaters.
