Wedding goodness
Apr. 2nd, 2004 12:33 pmLast night we all attended the wedding of
jessicac and her now-espoused Tim, in a great honking herd:
spazzkat,
kathrynt,
llachglin,
rmd,
chipmunck and her guy Ryan,
mamishka,
solarbird, and me! A very lovely wedding indeed, and the bride and groom were inordinately charming in how they grinned giddily at one another and jumped up and down as the priest pronounced them husband and wife, and in how Tim ardently smooched Jessica and she got this look on her face like "OH RIGHT we DO need to wait until the honeymoon". ;)
Much chatter about Great Big Sea occurred, which is always satisfying to me. Regis shared with me her anecdotes about recent GBS shows she has attended, and Newfoundlanders of her acquaintance; Stephanie asked me about GBS and then suddenly recognized them when "I'm a Rover" started blaring over the speakers at the reception.
Did I mention how satisfying it was to hear "I'm a Rover" at a wedding reception? ;) Well hey, Tim's Irish--and they're going to Ireland for the honeymoon--so it was absolutely appropriate!
The reception food and wine were all very tasty, and I discovered that while I like Chateau Ste. Michelle's Johannesburg Riesling, I don't like it as much as the Columbia Winery's Cellarmaster. Whatever champagne they got was also amazingly sweet and tasty and lovely stuff by which to have toasts, of which there were many.
Meems looked elegant in black and red. Kathryn smoldered in a deep burgundy velvet gown that she proclaimed a torch song dress, and she burst into song more than once. Erik looked amazingly like an Agent from The Matrix when he put on his Armani sunglasses. Paul looked absolutely swank in his spiffy new suit.
And as for my spouse--well, Dara positively glowed when she grabbed me by the hand a couple of times and swung me out onto the dance floor. Which was pretty amazing, given that I am NOT a dancer. But there's just something about being danced around and sung to by your beloved that makes you figure out fast to just let it happen. :~)
I got told more than once that I looked really cute. *^_^*
We were far and away the liveliest bunch there. Especially when we all started singing along with "I'm a Rover"--making us definitely the Table Five of this particular wedding. ;)
Congrats to Jessica and Tim!

Date: 2004-04-02 08:21 pm (UTC)It was all great fun indeed, and half the fun was just watching Jessica RADIATE joy. She was particularly charming when she squealed at me, "I JUST GOT MARRIED!"

Date: 2004-04-02 03:33 pm (UTC)and there's also something pretty inspiring about hearing you talk about Dara and your adventures with her in tones you hear from newlyweds, not usually those who have been lifemated for .... something close 14 years by my VERY guesstimed arithmetic :)
Congratulations to you two as well for the examples you set to the rest of us. those kind of vibes are a good example
