Only 159 words tonight--but I had a really good excuse this time. risu, solarbird and I watched Casablanca, since I couldn't remember ever having seen it before and Rebecca hadn't seen it at all. Damn good movie, that. And I think this is only the 2nd film I've ever seen of Humphrey Bogart's. It was very odd and very amusing, too, to finally hear all of the classic lines in their original context; amusing, too, was Dara's remark that the film is not in fact a period piece.

But in further writing news, I'm not entirely comfy with how Chapter 3 is going, and I may have to review what I've got. I'm seeming to have a problem of doing too much tell and not enough show for the information I want to relay, so I may need to delve into a day or two of reviewing what I've already written in the chapter. That'll be this weekend, though.

I remember watching Casablanca once and thinking "Dang! Every line is a cliche!" And then a few minutes later: "D'oh! This is the source of the lines that became cliches." I was glad there was no one else around. Hah!

Hee hee! Yeah, that's pretty much my reaction. Well, that, and thinking of the Red Dwarf episode where Kryten falls in love with the alien blob and they riff on Casablanca all the way through. :D

Ah, I just bought the DVD to watch it for the first time. Looking forward to doing that on the weekend. Good to hear that another novice enjoyed it.

Cool! Yeah, this is only the second film of Bogie's I've ever seen, but I did very much like it; it had that sort of feeling you get after eating an extremely satisfying meal, with something in it that your body's been craving! Or watching an extremely satisfying movie. ^_^

Bogie doesn't do a damn thing for me physically--he had a face like a depressed basset hound--but boy, that man could act. And Ingrid Bergman is positively luminous in this film.
