Return of the King with 11 nominations, Master and Commander with 10. I am pleased. I am very pleased.
Even if Mr. Crowe is not up for Best Actor again this year. I love Russell dearly, but even I have to admit he was not stretching his formidable talents to play Jack Aubrey. I am, however, miffed that Paul Bettany is not up for Best Supporting Actor! Because he was a WONDERFUL Maturin!
I am equally miffed that Sean Astin is not up for Best Supporting Actor for Sam. Because "I can't carry it for you, Mr. Frodo, but I can carry you!" *sniffle*
On the other hand, I'm also amazed and charmed that Johnny Depp is actually up for Best Actor for Captain Jack Sparrow. :D I mean, "Buh-HUH?" He was amazing, but a fluffy flick like Pirates of the Caribbean scoring that nomination and several others as well?
So half of me wants to, as per usual, ask the people in charge of Oscar nominations WTF they're smoking, and the other half wants to ask if I can have some. ;)
