ssha and mamishka who advised me about what happens when someone's got a knife in their back. Especially the latter, who added that I should check with jiapa, who is after all, like, qualified with this sort of stuff. So:
HEYjiapa! Is it appropriate to assume that if someone's had a thrown knife embedded in their back, and the knife is still there, that there wouldn't be much blood around the site of entry?
