Russell Crowe is a daddy!

Charles Spencer Crowe was apparently born to Russell and Danielle, Sunday the 21st, and weighed in at 6 pounds 2 ounces. I hear rumors Russell roared to the hospital on a motorcycle, and is totally hogging the kid. I can totally see him doing that, as well probably making the same kind of joke smeehrrr did when his kid popped out. ;D

Of course, because he is named Charles, my sleepy brain is now free-associating with my nephew Charlie, who had a positively ganormous head when he was born and who got referred to as Melon for a year afterwards by me and spazzkat and solarbird just because we couldn't remember the poor kid's name! This, ladies and gentlemen, is the inevitable result of four and a half hours of sleep. Let's hear it for the Solstice!

I'm going to assume that like vivasuperstar and tombking's little Charles Spencer the baby was named for Charlie Chaplin rather than Diana former Princess of Wales's brother.

I couldn't say for the life of me! Though I expect that the Spencer comes from Danielle's side of the family as that was her maiden name (as well as the name she continues to use for her own modest career), and there may well be a Charles in the family in there somewhere. :)

True enough. When I told mom about little Charles Spencer Lathrop her first reaction was "they DIDN'T" (I guess Diana's brother was particularly making an ass of himself in the news around that time), so I reassured her that no, they were more into old movie stars than minor nobility.

Hrmm. Well, I am given to understand that Mrs. Crowe was born in Britain, and that her mother was British... so I would guess a non-zero possibility that the kid's first name may be prince-derived. :) But!
