Wanted to do that to get into the mood for Return of the King today--I've been all about the Tolkien lately, having re-listened to the soundtrack from the first film as well. And I even punted Russell off my desktop and replaced him with Galadriel. ;)
(This caused amused consternation from
flashfire, but as I told him, just because Russell isn't on my desktop doesn't mean he doesn't get looked at! I frequently have a browser window open to my ogle pic of the day. And hell, half the time I have so many programs running I can't see what's on my desktop anyway. And it was all rather brought about by flipping my desktop at work to a Return of the King desktop poster off lordoftherings.net, since I wanted something else on that desktop due to having Russell on the actual wall. Plus, Galadriel is just gorgeous.)
And I amused myself remembering that technically speaking, Aragorn and Arwen are in fact distantly related. Telling
solarbird this, I got her to remark wryly that oh, THIS was why Aragorn was worth bothering with--he's got elf blood. ;)
Anyway, re-watched Fellowship last night and was delighted to note that this movie still makes me cry at the following four points:
1. "FLY, YOU FOOLS!"
2a. Boromir's last stand against the charge of Uruk-hai.
2b. "I would have followed you anywhere... my brother... my captain... my King."
3. "I made a promise, Mister Frodo! 'Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee!' And I don't mean to!"
Off to see the king return!
