GAH. It's official... the second half not only didn't do much to redeem the first half, it COMPLETELY broke any semblance ot the original for both me and solarbird. Because...

THERE ARE NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER UNDER WHICH IT IS ACCEPTABLE THAT BOOMER IS A FUCKING CYLON AGENT!

The bitch of it is, this new version didn't even really make me care much about this version of Boomer--who was pretty much a nonentity despite being one of the named members of the cast. So it really just kind of came across as "ooooh look, surprise! Important Character(TM) is really a sleeper Cylon agent!" And I was all, "And this character is important WHY?"

That is, AFTER I was going, "BOOMER IS NOT A CYLON! GRRR!"

And to think, the best reason why Boomer was such a great character was that he was written to be Starbuck's conscious, that and Herbert Jefferies Jr is an excellent actor, and a really great guy! (Met him at a con...8) )

I don't think I knew Boomer was intended to be Starbuck's conscience, but I could certainly see it! :) And yeah, I always did like the character. Glad to hear he is a great guy in person too.

I'll have to admit that (at least by my reckoning) of all of the really bad 70s SF shows, if I had to pick one that badly needed to be randomly pissed on, BG might well be it (*)

but... wow. I mean, at some point, you may as well just do the MST3K treatment and call it a day; the rest is just wasting budget.

(*) though now I've suddenly got a lot of other possibilites coming to mind (e.g., the Starlost, Logan's Run (the series), Planet of the Apes (the series), Man from Atlantis,...)

... argh, make it stop.

Oh yeah, there are plenty of crapfests that were way worse than Battlestar Galactica. ;) But yeah, geez.
