I saw the clips and it's not a movie am horribly interested in, but I definatly want to see it, I love period stuff.. :) Love period costumes. mmmmmm.. and he looks particularly good in it.

Having read the first three O'Brien books after having heard tell of the coming of this film, I can say that while I have been skimming boredly through paragraph after paragraph of lengthy descriptions of three dozen kinds of sails, I DO like the characters of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin a lot, and I am really looking forward to seeing Crowe as Aubrey and Paul Bettany as Maturin. After seeing how well they worked together in A Beautiful Mind, they should be able to handle this pair of characters splendidly. ^_^

That said, the PRIMARY reason I'm anticipating this movie is blue-coat-wearin', British-accent-talkin', sword-fightin', pistol-wavin', violin-playin', swashbucklin' Crowe goodness. I ain't got no literary pretensions here. ;D

I'll let you know when I schedule a movie outing!

No, and in fact he's wearing too much as it is. If I were Dr. Maturin I'd be concerned about the Captain catching his death of cold -- he should remove that wet clothing immediately!
